Almost two hours driving from Rome very wild place with only few organised and easy accessible beaches. The Avezzano corner of the lake is frankly wild you have very uncomfortable access to the lake and when there you dont know where to seat. Choice between sunny sand and wild graze. In the Rieti portions are located organised beaches with some service bars and restaurants. Best book before since on Sunday in almost full booked. Not worth to go there if not for a quick tour and look. Nothing to do and few places to rest. Should you pass for other reason have a look. …

Similar for various aspects to its twin artificial lake of Turano, the Salto lake offers several lovely spots around its shores. Here, like in the Turano lake, the level of the water can vary substantially during the year and actually there aren't many beaches around its shores but notably in the little village of Borgo San Pietro there is a sanctuary dedicated to S. Filippa Mareri, built in the 30's when the lake was created and in which there is a very interesting chapel rebuilt from the older sanctuary, now flooded by the lake, dating back to the 13th century, all frescoed and the relics of the Saint (for a visit please ask the nuns running the sanctuary).…

This is an artificial lake created in 1940 when the Dam was built. It was done in order to save the Cicolano Vally from being flood by the Salto River. You can park the car by the side of the road and walk carefully to the dam. We can drive uphill and get a splendid view of the lake.…
