Saw this statue in a small square on my way to get my first coffee of the day as our group made a stop in Reiti. The statue is modern and a heart-warming paean to the lost Lire, the old Italian currency. Reiti is a cute little town and I also found my coffee on the square at Gran Caffe Quatro Stagioni - not listed on TripAdvisor.

I think it is the only monument made to the Italian Lira, after it went out of circulation in 2002. It has been done melting tons of pieces of 200 lire.

According the Information we have got ( I was with some friends) the Monument has been obtained melting the old coins of lira, which now are out of circulation.
