The visit to the gallery was only available through the guide. The exhibition is free (the guide too). You should book a time slot on their website. The visit is available in group, I went alone and I was in a group of about 25 people, which it might feel too much in some rooms, tho. The collection includes Italian pieces from modern painters and sculptures, artist from the arte povera; instead in the second floor the American collection. U till here the collection is a part from the original one done by Achille Maramotti. The collection continues with some famous instalation and scptures.
The tempotaty exhibitions was at the ground floor, and it has no tour guide.
Full filling overall experience even thought I used to prefare a less crowded groups.
The tour guide is well prepared and she is nice to listen to.

Dear guest,
thank you for your time here and for leaving your kind review.
As you explained very well, the visit to the permanent collection is always by reservation and it's possible only with an accompanied free tour. For this reason, the group's number can't be narrowed down too much, we're sorry.
We hope you'll come back again here for the next events.
Kind Regards

Especially from 80’s and 90’s, also beginning of this century. One of the largest I have ever seen. And very well exhibited.
The best place to visit in Reggio Emilia.
Mostly works from Italian artists (Arte povera; Arte concetuale; Arte minimaliste) and American artists; some Germans. Nearly no street art.
Careful: you have to book your visit in advance!

This is a very fine museum in a repurposed factory that is very well suited to the contemporary art within. There are good examples of works by major contemporary artists known worldwide and a comprehensive collection of works by artists Americans have probably not heard of (there were several American artists represented that we were not familiar with). These latter are a little mixed in quality, but worth a look by anyone interested in the genre.
Be mindful, however, that you can't see any of the collection without taking the guided tour-- so book in advance. The problem with the tour is that you have to go at the pace set by the guide and this may be either too fast or too slow for you. We got completely exhausted and it wasn't a help that one had to leave all bags behind and that there were no toilet facilities readily available, nowhere to sit down, nor anywhere to get a drink of water. A couple of hours standing without water can be hard for older people.

Accessible to everyone, without doubt, Collezione Maramotti represents a cultural event not to be missed for all those who have the opportunity to travel in Italy. It was a unique and exciting experience that I would recommend to all. The exhibitions can be visited, free of charge, every days except on August! Enjoy,

I have visited the Maramotti Collection twice. The docent on each visit was professional, expert and full of stories. The Collection (modern art) might not seem interesting but I found it captivating. The location, the building and the collection combine to make it a "must see" if you are at all interested in art.

The collection hosts numerous well-known modern artists from Europe and the US from the 1960s until today. It is a must-see for anyone interested in modern art. The museum can only be visited with a guided tour which is in Italian. Our guide was very knowledgeable and could provide extensive information on request, thus enriching the visit. The visit takes 2,5 hours which is needed to really indulge into this rich collection. And it is for free.

Maramotti Collection in Reggio Emilia, free accompanied visit. Approximately 200 works from around 1950 to today are on display and are mainly paintings. Really interesting, I would like to delve deeper into both the authors and the works. There was also a temporary exhibition of Manuele Cerutti and photos of Silvia Rosi as part of Fotografía Europea. All free. Nice surroundings and friendly staff. Accessible to all. For the visit you need to book.

If I had a collection close to home of this level, I would visit it and revisit it once a month, read some criticisms and smile, but how much did you pay for entry to have the presumption of judging?!?!??? Since they are making this marvel of masterpieces available to you, you should just look, enrich yourself and thank them.
Well, I do it here: thanks to the Maramotti family, thanks to our guide and to all those who allowed us this full immersion in art. When will a colorful Boetti be in the collection? :-)

The collection is very beautiful and extensive, with some truly interesting works. What deeply disappointed me was the choice not to illustrate the works and artists in detail, but to only provide very "high" information, mostly accompanying the visitor along the route. It has been specified to us several times that it is a choice of the Maramotti Family not to want to "saturate" the visitor with information. A choice that I cannot understand, considering that there was still a person dedicated to visitors. And a fair compromise can be reached between little and saturation. It was a missed opportunity, both for us visitors and for our companion. In my opinion it is always an added value to broaden the visitor's knowledge and stimulate discussion and cultural exchange which has remained stifled with this method of visit.

Gentile,
