Being from Reggio Emilia it is difficult to be objective when it comes to speak about one of the most iconic building of my town. Having said that, I am sure that everybody would be impressed by the beauty of one of the most beautiful Opera houses in the whole world.
Not only is it a landmark, but also a a real temple of culture (opera, classic and modern music, ballet, etc.) and an architectural wonder in the heart of Reggio.
Coming to Reggio Emilia and not visiting the Theatre, eating the delicious (as well as fattening) food and not enjoying the quality of life of the town and its surroundings would be both a crime and a sin.
If one doesn't want to (or can't) see a concert, a ballet or a play, one can still visit the Theatre. It is possible to book both solo and group visit at short notice

This is a small theatre but we enjoyed it more than the mighty, and much more famous, La Scala. Wonderful seats. Acoustics seemed great. We were told some famous opera singers preferred singing here versus La Scala. The audience was there because they love opera, not the se and be seen crowd, although there is that element. We saw one of Verdi's early operas here, not famous at all, but very enjoyable and the crowd was appreciative.

We went there to see Wilsons opera Einstein on the beach, wich lasts 4 hours. You were able to eat and drink in their cafe, which was very helpfull due to the lenght of the show.

Never ever buy the cheapest tickets, because you cannot see anything from the highest floor.

It was like a smaller La Scala with individual boxes all beautifully decorated. No shows were on but they allowed my guide to take me right through for a look.

Almost by chance we managed to do the guided tour, very interesting!
The guide was very good at showing the peculiarities of the Valli Theater, in the meanders of the backstage with the various machines and equipment

Superb location where we attended a fantastic concert Amour fabulas Preludio, Gazzè proved to be an excellent musician, it's a shame that the seats in the stalls were not very comfortable and would need to be modernized, but the theater is a real jewel.

The Reggio theater has an impressive structure considering the size of the structure. Its facade is enhanced by the beautiful jet fountain located in the square.

Splendid nineteenth-century theater in the heart of the city centre: it is accessed from a bright and elegant atrium, the stalls are horseshoe-shaped and offer excellent visibility of the stage even from the sides.
It has four tiers of boxes and a stepped gallery, stuccos and decorations as befits a temple of culture.
