We wanted some maps of the area and to find out about renting a boat. We stopped in and got some information. We decided not to rent a boat here but wait til we were in Amalfi on another day.

We visited the tourist information office in late February. We found Rosalba the hostess to be super friendly and very knowledgeable. She had maps of everything local and also she had bus timetables. If you are doing the Amalfi coast without a car, someone like Rosalba is super helpful. She also had bus tickets to sell, the only place in town with them in the off-season, a commodity as good as gold.

This place suited us down to the ground as Praiano was exactly what we wanted from a holiday.  Peaceful hotel, transport (!although buses do not keep well to timetables), cafes, bars and restaurants, couple of small supermarkets and a pharmacy.  In striking distance of Amalfi and Positano.
Praiano is a friendly town, no pavements and little street lighting so keep your wits about you at all times when walking along the road.

The lady behind the desk looked incredibly bothered to even have to help us. She rolled her eyes when we didn't know the difference between the buses from town to town and offered us no other information. The only cash we had was a 100 euro which she was not happy about rolling her eyes more and asking which hotel we stayed at because we are "bad client" for someone who works at a tourist information spot she could have been a bit more patient and friendly. Rudest person and worst service we've had in Italy.

The lady at the tourist office gave me lots of very interesting information about the area and for walking - also off the beaten track. Allow some time when you go and see her - she‘s doing her job well and explains everything in detail, which is really helpful and exactly what you‘d expect.

Went in there to try and get a map for the Walk of the Gods route. The lady in there was incredibly rude, first of all giving us a map of the area. When we asked where the actual walking route was on the map, she huffed and said "it is on there" before highlighting the route in highlighter, as it turned out not to be indicated on there at all. All very strange. She then began to lecture us on what a hard walk it is, seemingly trying to put us off the walk, and telling us we had to wear trousers and walking shoes (which we were wearing!) Really not a nice experience and very strange service considering her role is to help people and encourage tourism in the area, surely...

If you have any questions while travelling stop in to see this very knowledgeable multi-lingual lady. Any info you need or reservations to be made she is one-stop shopping besides knowing about any special events happening in the area. Tell her I said to offer to buy her a l'acqua marrone (her special favorite coffee).

This should be your first stop in Praiano to get you oriented to the bus schedule and to get a wonderful map of the area. The agent also explained which restaurants were open and where to park for free on the streets. This was very helpful!
