This is a very scenic cliff-side trek with sweeping views of the coast. Unfortunately, the weather played spoilsport on the day, so it was cloudy and misty, and rained as well - which impacted clarity of the views, but made it all quite dramatic.
We took the bus from Amalfi to Bomerano (check bus schedules, we'd have liked to start earlier but service is limited on Sundays and holidays) and followed the signs to the trailhead. The path itself is not very well signposted, but its hard to stray off course. It's not very hard or dangerous as such, but there are parts that are steep with minor scrambling and sections with loose rock so need to be sure footed and careful. Take enough water and snacks to fuel up en route.
We took about 2 hours from Bomerano to Nocelle, keeping a brisk pace. From Nocelle,it is possible to walk but we were tired and took the bus to Positano. After exploring gorgeous Positano, we took a late evening bus back to our B&B in Amalfi.

Unforgettable images of green, bright blue sea below
Following v clear instructions from our Praiano hotel we walked up to the Dominican church. Many many many steps and a lot of water imbibed on a not hot sunny November day. Toilets closed and no drinking water available on route this time of year.
Hotel Margherita had said we can carry on to Nocelle....which we decided to do.
Beware.
Not well marked trail after church until you reach the intersection with people coming downhill from Bomerano. That uphill scramble across rocks with no marked path was tricky. We had a map but not overly helpful on that section. Once reached main Path of Gods trail.....found a hiking stick and just smiled, walked, photographed our way to Nocelle
From there (again no restaurants/refreshments open in November)- bus to Positano. If you're getting bus SITA back south, get off at first stop in Positano and catch Sita bus.
Tips....hat and hiking shoes v helpful. Bring walking stick for balance.

Definitely a hike! Stunning views and nature. Incredible go see how people live in the cliffs. The stairs were very difficult at some points but worth it. Best to go early in the morning.

This is an amazing hike! If you are visiting the Amalfi Coast, we highly, highly recommend! We hiked from Bomerano to Nocelle (Positano) and highly recommend hiking that direction. Yes, there are ups and downs, but mostly downs in this direction. The steps at the end descending from Nocelle to Positano are steep and numerous (felt like at least 1,500 plus steps down.....), and we would NOT have wanted to make this hike in reverse (i.e., UP these steps). We took a taxi from our hotel in Positano to Bomerano, which was an experience in and of itself, as the car climbed the winding, steep and narrow roads to Bomerano - but it was WELL WORTH THE COST - to start in Bomerano..... Literally amazing views the entire hike. They say it could take 3-5 hours to hike, but we did it in just over 2 hours (in our mid-50s), and it was very doable.

Wow, what an amazing hike!! You get the most incredible views in the Amalfi Coast while doing this hike. We started in Bomerano and worked our way back to Positano, we even did the over 1,500 stairs from Nocelle. In all it took us about 3 hours. We started the hike early in the morning around 7:00 and did not see many people. It was also awesome to see the sun rise over the mountains. You might be sore the next day but you will be glad you did this hike.

As many have said, the views along this hike are stunning. We took private car service from Sorrento to the start of the trail in Bomerano. Got there a bit after 8 am, not many people. There is a cafe at the start for last-minute drinks/snacks/breakfast. We are very average when it comes to hiking; we like a bit of a challenge but not too crazy. That said, this hike wasn’t too tough but there were a few more rocky ups/downs than we expected. It took us about 3 hours to get to Nocelle, probably could have been 2.5 without any stops for pics or rest. There are a couple fountains along the way but the water isn’t great. We stopped for a quick drink at the first cafe you reach. Then it was about another 10-15 mins thru the narrow Village walkways to the Nocelle bus stop. There are some signs along the way, but there was one we almost missed (we would have started down the million steps to Positano if we hadn’t turned to see it). The road up from Positano ends at the bus stop; there was a small drink stand as well. The bus was only a couple Euros and is roughly hourly. There were a few taxis but they had already been booked in advance (there is a taxi phone number on a sign at the cafe). The bus ride down to Positano was both spectacular and a bit hair-raising, as there were numerous times we were only inches from the walls on one side and cars on the other. We got off at the beach stop, as did most others. This was certainly not a casual tourist activity, but it was well worth the time and effort.

First off: we started from Positano and first walked to Arienzo. From there it’s a major major climb up 1750 steps (we learned later) to get to Nocelle, which is a quaint and tiny village in hills. That’s where the Path really starts or ends. We opted to do the Upper Path which takes you much higher still with rapid elevation gain. The good news: the Upper trail is rarely used and very quiet. The scenery is absolutely stunning but be prepared to work. From the peak on the Upper trail it’s pretty much all downhill to Bomerano (stop for refreshment and to check out the square and church. Most people start the Path from here and it’s about 2.5 hours back to Positano, with all those stairs down from Nocelle to Arienzo and then further on into the town itself. Research how you want to do it but definitely a beautiful hike with main Path well marked and easy to follow. One of the more rewarding and breathtaking hikes we’ve done. Definitely recommend.

TIPS. I’ve done it twice. Choose direction Bomerano to Nocelle, this way the scenery is ahead, instead of behind you, and at the end you climb down (not up!) 1700+ steps to get back to the main road near Positano. It takes about 25 minutes to get from Amalfi to Bomerano by bus (then another 10-15 min walk to the trail). Do it in the morning, so you walk mostly in the shade, protected by the mountain. The actual trail can be completed in roughly 2 hours, but I would plan for at least 3-4 hours (bus, finding the trail, water breaks, taking pictures, 20-30 min walking down the steps at the end, etc).

The views along the Amalfi Coast are spectacular. The trail from Bomerano to Nocelle is mostly level or downhill although there are some difficult climbs and the track is rough in some places. There are a couple of small cafes and an ice lemon stall in Nocelle. The walk down many steps to Positano jars the knees. Overall I would highly recommend.

Soll man Positano weglassen?
Freuen uns auf eine Antwort sehr!
Gruss

Bonjour,c'est un très beau sentier avec des vues magnifiques.il faut aller à Bomerano.il est dangereux par endroit...attention aux enfants !
Pour Positano, il vaut mieux y aller en bateau, c'est plus facile..
