Small-Group Amalfi Coast Day Cruise from Positano

208 reviews
Enjoy a day on the water and on land during this Amalfi Coast cruise, a stress-free way to see some of Italy's beautiful landscapes. Not only do you not need to worry about renting snorkeling equipment, but your guide also takes you to a secluded cave that would be difficult to find alone. Plus, spend time visiting Ravello or Amalfi at your own pace without your group holding you back during free time.

Maurizio de Rosa was recommended by Paola at Sorrento Magic Tour. Our day started by making our way from Amalfi to Bomerano to meet Maurizio. We then ascended the long staircase to embark on the trek. Maurizio was so knowledgeable about the area and we chatted a lot about nature and he showed us olive trees, pomegranate trees, where mushrooms grow and where wild herbs and vegetables grow. Maurizio was very accommodating with pace and to maximise our experience he suggested that we take the boat back from Positano to Amalfi which we enjoyed. The trek itself is manageable. I would say to set a whole day for this trek so that you can enjoy time in the towns and villages that you pass. We got a fresh juice in Nocelle and spent some time wandering through Positano and stopped for a late lunch and gelato. The views on this trek are breathtaking.

I've wanted to do this walk for years ,and finally I got the chance. I was not disappointed. We were blessed with beautiful sunny February weather. It takes a fair bit of travelling from Sorrento, but the walk was actually easier and quicker than I'd thought. We walked the route from Nocelle back towards Positano. We used the sunflower guide which I highly recommend. We took the higher route - where the path goes off to the right by a house with a cross in the garden - the signage takes you to the lower route at this point, but apparently the higher route is more spectacular which makes sense, and it was certainly very lovely! The cafe at the end of the route is basic but has a beautiful view too so a good place to stop off before doing the steps down to the road, which was definitely the more tiring bit of the walk. We caught the bus back to Sorrento from a stop at the bottom of the steps rather than in Positano.

It was great, but just make sure the bus is running otherwise you'll have to hike 8 miles instead of four!

Highly recommend doing this hike - it is certainly doable for anyone of normal fitness and the views were unlike anything I have ever seen. You can really see as far as the end of the sea! The path can get thin (and the cliff drop is extremely high) so do make sure you're only going when it's clear skies. Take water as there won't be stops until the end. We hiked up from Fuoro / Praiano to the start of the path, then to Nocelle, and then took the steps down. The hardest parts by far were the paths up from Praiano ( it is extremely steep up so would recommend starting from the actual path in Bomerano for a much easier walk. There are 1700 steps from Nocelle down to the bottom of the road near Positano- while it wasn't hard going down, I wouldn't recommend doing it if you're planning to do hikes the next day as our calves had delayed onset pain for several days, which made walking down stairs quite painful! Something to bear in mind.

Amazing views!! We had a great time walking this path from Nocelle to Bomerano (got the bus to Nocelle from Positano, walked from there to Bomerano and back). As we went in August it was extremely hot but we chose a cloudy day which helped a lot! SUCH hard work and not for those with any knee or ankle problems as it’s a very rugged path with lots of rocky, tall rock-steps you have to navigate but it’s worth it for the views. Took us roughly 2 hours each way stopping for some pics but we are quick walkers. Go if you can!
