Cute small attraction

You will see this grotta as you drive down into Positano, as well as others as you drive between the small towns along Amalfi. Very charming!

Pretty little grotto built into the cliff face . It is also a bus stop so its easy to miss if there is a queue of people stood in front of it

The grotto is carved into the rock along the road leading to the main part of Positano. When taking the bus through Positano it is located on the final leg of the bus route heading into town not far from Fornillo restaurant on a sharp curve. I was told that during the Christmas holiday it is decorated like a nativity... More

This Grotto is about a third of the way down to the town from the main road. It is on a tight left hand bend and appears to be built into the cliff wall. There are numerous figurines and other carvings and it is similar to another one or two sites like this that we saw on this coastline. It... More

We drove by this and said that we would walk back but never did. Would like to know more about the history of these little carvings. The Amalfi coast has a couple more of these village model like features. Some even have small figurines.

There are several of these types of scenes in the area, this one is on a very tight bend which actually looks like a cave when first travelling down towards it, but the road appears from behind some buildings and you realise it's just a very sharp corner

This year-round "precept" carved out of the tufa rock is the Christmas precepe all decorated up with holiday figures (of actual folks from the town!!!) the end of this month! Once Advent begins, there will be all sorts of cool little figures in the doorways and windows...have only been there for a couple of years, but it is something to... More

This is a really cute and interesting scene carved into the mountainside. It's at the local bus stop so nice to look at when you're sitting there on the bench.

Make a quick stop for a photo and fill up your bottles of water. A walk to Fornillo beach starts from here.
