This stretch of coastline has often been described as the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. One after another, green and rocky mountains plunge dramatically into the Mediterranean blue sea. The famous Amalfi Coast road clings to the mountainsides revealing a succession of picture book views each seemingly more stunning than the one before. Not so many years ago much of this coast was only accessible by boat. Now it is a fashionable resort area which retains the charm of past times.

This is such a gorgeous beach. Yes it has pebbles. But the views are stunning. It's not that busy. You could just rent a chair and spend the day splashing about in the water.

We love this beach! Coming here and renting a few chairs and eating at the restaurant is such a fun Amalfi coastal experience. If you are lucky you will get a free glass of Limoncello when you sit down to eat. The black sand and salty water are so much fun...and it's a gorgeous walk to Positano.

This beach is a perfect reprieve from the main beach of Positano that is always jam packed, especially on weekends. It's an easy walk along the path along the mountain to get down to Fornillo, and for the few extra minutes it takes and less crowds, so worth it. I always prefer coming to this beach over the main beach,... More

The beach is relaxing and lovely. Restaurants are close by so you can have the day at the beach and finish with a cold drink and beautiful dinner.?

We loved Positano! Just not the bus trip there! Should've taken a boat. Lots of walking up and down stairs in hot July weather too! So many great shops but the food we had in Positano was some of the best gelato, coffee and cake we had in Italy! Delicious! The beach was so hard to swim in as the... More

Fantastic weather and climate is just perfect for taking a relaxing day at the beach. Tax thongs / sandles as the rocks are killers on this no sand beach. A lot more comfortable than the main beach and just a short stroll around the headland.

This is a smaller beach than the main beach in Positano. If you want less crowds and a quieter beach give this a try.

About a 10-minute walk from town, but if you're not prepared to walk you shouldn't have come to Positano. Water shoes were a great idea to handle the stoney beach and access the water, which was very clean and deepened gradually. Reasonably priced lounges and umbrellas in front of a selection of very reasonably priced beachfront restaurants. Fairly quiet and... More

One of the best days from a 10 day tour of Italy was our day spent on Fornillo beach. My husband and I, with our 1 year old son strapped to us via baby carrier, trekked down the steps after taking the short bus ride from Sorrento. It was a quiet Tuesday with very few beach goers. We rented the... More

Although we visited Positano at the start of the low season, it was still quite busy, heading to Spiaggia del Fornilla was a good idea to get away from the crowds of the Spiaggia Grande. There were a few bars along the beach, and the water and beach were very clean. It was quite rocky though. We hired 2 sun... More
