We've been here twice and love this destination. There's lots to do for kids and you eat reallywell in the beach bars. We particularly loved Balneare Antonio and Bora Bora.

What's going on with making everyone pay so much for parking? You should be able to get a day pass so you can move around. We had to pay 5 euros a day for our car at our apartment, 1,80 an hour by the sea and 1 euro an hour at night!!!! Porto Recanati madness!

If you want to live like an Italian, you have to do what they do and this is simply NOT going to Rome in August... Italians love the seaside and Porto Recanati is a small gem, cheap and full of locals...good long beach, very good food, lots to do and the prices are reasonable

I spent one month in Porto Recanati when I was young (for my studies). It is a nice city where you can really discover what (North) Italy is as it is not so touristy. However, there are a lot of things to do near this place, such as Ancona or Loreto.

I loved the "Oratorio di Porto Recanati" which was a place where most of the young people went after school to play football. Not sure whether it is still open but it is definitely nice to see.

NB: I went to PR in 2002, not July 2013 but I could not choose this date..

Absolutely beautiful beach and promenade on the Adriatic coast of Italy. Gorgeous ocean view, delicious restaurants, parks, and shopping.

The food here is good but I think potential diners should be aware that prices seem to be a state secret. I was told that fish soup was available but when I asked ‘how much’ the lady in charge could not bring herself to tell me. In the end she wrote it down - €35. We chose the spaghetti at €13 but, again, I had to ask the cost. If you can put up with sour, brusque, charmless and patronising service, this is the place for you. The food Is not bad at all. A good restaurant gone off, I would say. A restaurant that has been much praised and is now resting on its laurels. Don’t believe me? Try it!

A very nice long sea, when I arrived in Porto Recanati in 1978 it was not like that, the cars had access to the seafront.
Then immediately after, they closed the seafront, with access only to pedestrians and bicycles, from that moment it changed everything slowly, from a simple small fishing village with a splendid view on the Monte Conero promontory, to a beautiful tourist resort.
On the road they put the bricks to the ground, the houses have been renovated, even with bright but beautiful colors.
Therefore, only foresight can save us from the landscape degradation perpetrated by building speculators.

I visited on business and can't wait to go back again for a holiday.

It can be fairly expensive to eat and drink but otherwise it's a lovely place to visit.

The Italians use it as one of their higher class seaside resorts and i gave been advised by friends who live their it's wonderful in the summer.
