The museum is located in the beautiful Palazzo del Commune at the central square of Pistoia. It was founded in the late 19th century, to be officially opened in 1922. There are numerous paintings, sculptures and artefacts on display in the museum, mostly the works...More

It was evident that very few people visit the museum but still the staff was very friendly and the museums is kept well and clean. Some of the paintings are very interesting and worth a visit, however there is no masterpieces. If you have time...More

Being over 60 this museum is free of charge, or else a few EUR. If you expect a Florence type super museum you are not satisfied here. But we enjoyed a rather extensive collection of paintings from the 12th to the 19th century very much...More

Not the Uffizi, but this small museum owns a rare Coppo di Marcobaldo, one of the earliest painters to adapt the style of Byzantine art. It's remarkable. See it if you can avoid Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays when they are closed.

This seems to be a museum of leftovers. Some decent Jesus & Maria's on the ground floor. Do check out St. John making a heavy metal 'death wish' hand gesture on the first triptych, right after the entrance. Hilarious portrays on the third floor: ugly...More
