Amazing walking tour of Pistoia

Throughout this two-hour walking tour, uncover the beauty and mysteries of this city!
Starting from the Piazza San Francesco d'Assisi, your guide will lead you to one of the many monuments that will be idolized on this tour, the Church of San Giovanni Fuorcivitas.
Continuing to our next destination is the Piazza del Duomo, which encompasses some of the most important buildings in the city. The domination of the square, however, belongs to the ancient bell tower. Progressing on to the next locations, there are the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Corte and the Cathedral of San Zeno. Inside these Cathedral contains the Treasure of San Jacopo, along with its famous Silver Altar.
In the Piazza del Duomo, three important buildings exist: Palazzo Vescovile (the residence of the bishops until 1700), Palazzo Pretorio (currently the seat of the court), and the Palazzo Comunale.
At the conclusion of the tour, our final stop will be at the famous Pieve di Sant 'Andrea.

The bishop’s palace is among the oldest buildings in the city. It is mentioned even in the 11th century as the fortified residence that was later converted to a mansion. It was restored in the last century to preserve its Gothic-Renaissance appearance and to host a museum. Located at the Piazza del Duomo, it is one of the most interesting building well worth the attention.

The Palazzo dei Vescovi was built in the 14th century and it retained its medieval look although its facade seemed to lose most of its decorations judging by the remains of the white-and-grey alternating marble bands. It's a museum nowadays but it was too late and it was closed.

Unfortunately when I tried to visit I was informed that visits are guided tours only and at that moment they were experiencing a technical problem so the guided tour was being skipped. This could be sorted out better through the use of Audio Guides. However I cannot comment on the actual museum as I did not had time to visit due to the problem mentioned above.

The Palazzon can only be visited by a tour, which gives a detailed description of each room and each period of the building. Very interesting.
