This temple like the one next to it, is dedicated to Hera but originally thought to be dedicated to Neptune, built in 460 BC is the largest and most beautiful of all. Also built in the Doric style, but much different to the older one...More
We had a wonderful visit to this superb site. Magnificent temples, walkways, ruins.
Allow at least 3 hours to get around the whole site. Wear trainers or comfortable shoes and a hat, and bring water.
Even in September the sun was high in the sky,...More
I have been to quite a few sites of this nature around Europe and seldom do you get the opportunity to get so up close, and on top of these amazing historic locations.

So interesting, so well preserved, so worth the trip! Uneven terrain so wear good hiking shoes. Don't skip the museum which is included in your ticket, it has amazing artifacts which correspond to the site itself.
Visited Paestum as part of a guided day trip from Sorrento. Much quieter than the more well known Pompei and Herculaneum and all the better for that! Excellent museum. There are a couple of restaurants and tourist shops nearby.
These Greek temples from the 6th century B.C. are well preserved. If you can hire a guide for a few hours to get real insights into the history. It's worth it. The temples are lit at night which makes for stunning views of the ruins....More
Less popular site than others in Italy making it a relaxing afternoon. We really enjoyed looking round the temples and other ruins, you also get into the museum on the same ticket. Easy walk from the train station, would recommend.

No. We went in the middle of May and there was no queue. A lot of agencies charge a lot to 'skip the line.' It is a waste of money.
Wear good shoes, take water and see some of the best things that you will ever see.
