Di piccole dimensioni la Chiesa di Santo Stefano ad Orvieto, semplice ma bella e antica, XII secolo, in stile romanico con un suggestivo affresco sulla parete vicino all'entrata.

la semplicità della chiesa è il primo indizio dell'antichità di questa chiesa come luogo di culto cristiano. piccole dimensioni per puro stile romanico con caratteristica abside pensile posta su 3 grandi mensole a ventaglio, priva di qualsiasi decorazione, caratteristica delle chiese romaniche antiche. prime notizie del XII secolo. su parete a sinistra della porta d'ingresso, affresco di metà del trecento, raffigurante madonna con bambino e due angeli, con iscrizione mater gratie. tetto a capriate in legno, pavimento in mattoni tipo cotto, che trasudano il trascorrere del tempo, per il lento consumo al passaggio dei fedeli. abside a tutto sesto.

Chiesa secondaria in quanto molti turisti si recano nell'immediato a visitare il centro. Bella nella sua sobrietà e nella sua atmosfera. Ideale per chi ama raccogliersi in luoghi silenziosi e poco conosciuti.

Lungo il Corso Cavour ma timida e quasi appartata.
Così si presenta Santo Stefano e forse per questo, ingiustamente, non è molto apprezzata.
Una classica costruzione romanica che conserva al suo interno vari affreschi di pregio.
Le finestre che illuminano l'interno non hanno vetri ma conservano le originali lastre di alabastro che opache all'esterno consentivano alla luce di filtrare dentro la Chiesa.
Spicca sullaparete di fondo, all'interno diuna nicchia, l'affresco di Santo Stefano a cui la Chiesa è dedicata.

Così si presenta Santo Stefano e forse per questo, ingiustamente, non è molto apprezzata.

Meriterebbe una visita per gli affreschi contenuti ( pregevoli affreschi di scuola umbro senese ascrivibili ai secoli XIII, XIV e XV) e per la semplice e bella architettura di puro stile romanico, ma la guida ci ha portati in altri posti per vedere gli interni.

Храм Санто-Стефано находится в самом что ни на есть туристическом центре, ведь по Корсо Кавур в сторону собора проходит подавляющее большинство туристов, прибывших в Орвието. Только вот выходит храм на улицу Кавур своим совершенно неприметным каменным боком, фасад обращен в узкий переулок Санто-Стефано, поэтому все проходят мимо. Оттого особенно приятно лицезреть старинные фрески и незатейливый интерьер храма в полном одиночестве.

Это одна из старейших церквей Орвието, построенная в XIII веке. Внутри однонефный храм сохраняет невероятно камерную и трогательную обстановку. В ходе недавней реставрации были обнаружены старинные фрески XIV и XV веков. Также интересно изображение Святого Стефана в апсиде. Туристическим вниманием храм обделен.

Церковь не большая, находится в стороне от туристических троп, тишина и покой, можно посидеть и по размышлять о бренности человеческой жизни.

così devono essere le chiese minori: semplici e con affreschi spesso minimali ma apprezzabili se si pensa alla pochezza dei materiali a disposizioine
