A short walk up these stairs gives a nice view of the market square. The circular decor on the end of the building are fully populated with pigeons. Hence pigeon holes.

The 13th century Palazzo anchors a piazza of the same name. It is believed to have been built on a former papal palace from 1157. It has evolved over the centuries. The bell tower was added in 1315. That bell is now in the Torre del Moro. The upper levels were added in 1472. It has served as a private residence, a government center, and as university buildings. It was restored in the late 1980s and is currently home to a conference center.…

The clean geometric forms and authoritative mass of this 13th century civic palace are simply beautiful! The piazza in which it is located is also charming and the site of a bustling market on Thursday and Saturday mornings. There are also several really great cafés in the piazza. This was one of our favorite settings in Orvieto, a couple of blocks off the well-trod tourist path.…
