Beautiful old fashioned rail station, very close to the old historic center of the city, the rail station is charming and very well preserved. Worth the visit.

Was a bit worried about catching the funiculare up to old Orvieto as we had no info on how long it would take or how often. Only takes 5 minutes and leaves every 10 minutes, so not to worry! Does get rather busy and cramped...More

We arrived at this station from Venice via Bologna. We immediately purchased the Carta Unica from the agent in the station. This pass gave us many discounts at the Orvieto museums and attractions and restaurants. It also included the round trip ticket on the funicular...More

When driving to Orvieto the easiest parking is just north of the train station. You then go through the station to the funicular which takes you up to the top where a bus takes you to the central piazza, by the Duomo. The ticket for...More

I'm not sure what level of service people expect at a rail station. Have you ever been into a rail or metro station at home and got gleaming friendly customer service - I haven't. Anyway, we arrived into Orvieto Station by train from Rome. It...More

Came in by train in the late evening ... unfortunately during a downpour. Rather than venture across the street to the funicular for a ride up to the Duomo square and our B and B, we just grabbed the one taxi waiting at the station....More

You would think workers in travel services, like public transit, anywhere, including Rome and Orvieto (tourist destinations), might be trained in customer service. The ticket agents we dealt with in Orvieto and in Rome's termini were brusque, unhelpful, wrong about train times (!!!) and unclear,...More

As rail stations go, this is hard to beat for a small town. Friendly and well appointed (food, cafe, WC), the station is close to bus, taxi and funiculare to the town on the rock.
