For over eight centuries "Decugnano" has been used to indicate the name of the land of the estate. The soil rich in fossils, oysters and shells, the micro climate and a wide temperature range are all factors particularly suitable for wine growing. Beside a very modern cellar, the visitor has the possibility to admire the Etruscan caves, today utilized for the production of the sparkling wine "spumante" and to mature certain wines in barrels. Within spectacular scenery, the Estate organizes guided tours to their cellars followed by wine tasting and local delicacies. WE ARE OPEN! Saturday & Sunday

We visited this beautiful place on our honeymoon. Anna, who took the tour, was friendly and informative and we were able to look around the whole site, exploring the vinyard, cellars and caves (first carved out of the sandstone hill in the twelfth century). The sit-down wine tasting after this was superb and the local delicacies served along-side matched the... More

From the moment you step on the property, you're welcomed into a different way of living. We (two friends and I) were immediately greeted by Enzo Barbi, owner and son of founder Claudio Barbi. The website can give you all the facts, but suffice it to say, this was one of the best wine-tasting experiences I've ever had. Scratch that... More

Anna helped us set up this tour months before our visit to Orvieto. She gave a terrific tour of this beautiful winery. We tasted three wines, all good and had a nuce sampling of local meats, pecorino cheese, oil on bread and tomato bruschetta

The setting is beautiful. The tour of the winery, vineyard and caves are extensive. The guide (Anna) speak excellent English and is very knowledgeable and personable. The wines are quite good and the food tasting above and beyond. All in all, it was a highly enjoyable and informative visit. Well worth the short drive from Orvieto. We bought a mixed... More

A short tour of the winery with Anna before a cooking class with the wonderful Rosanna and then eating the result with wines matched from the estate. Anna provided the tasting notes for each variety and had the knowledge to contrast them with the wines form our region. An excellent day in a picturesque location and with delightful people.

Whenever we travel with friends, each of us takes a town and becomes the travel agent for the group on the assigned day. I was assigned the lovely and exquisite village of Orvietta. I was under a lot of pressure because when I searched for things to do on TripAdvisor, there didn't seem to be a lot to choose from.... More

My husband and I took a vineyard tour and cooking class with Anna Rita at Decugnano dei Barbi and it was definitely the highlight of our trip! Start to finish it was fantastic - the vineyard tour was fascinating, especially in their production of sparkling wine. Anna Rita was so knowledgable and did a wonderful job of teaching us about... We so enjoyed our wine tour at the lovely Decugnano dei Barbi with Anna Rita. An easy drive from Orvieto and you are welcomed to the most breathtaking hillside views dotted with vineyards. Anna Rita did a remarkable job explaining some of the history of the area, the nuances of the wine from this region and the unique properties of... More

The visit was very interesting because we learned a lot of things about history of Orvieto, the art of making wine. Wine tasting and pairing food was our first experience and was delightful. The site was amazing It was pleasant because the vineyard organizes small group.
