Would definitely recommend the wine tour! You learn about the region, the soil, the wines & to have a delicious lunch with a spectacular on Orvieto. Giovanni was more than a perfect host!
To start, the lovely Palazzone gave an amazing view on Orvieto. The welcome was really warm and relaxed, my pregnant wife could relax insight in the cool Palazzone. I had the privilege to have a perfect host during the wine tour, Giovanni. In perfect English he explained the history of the lovely Palazzone, the winery and the process of making wine. Thereafter, we had an absolutely delicious lunch (the Gnocchi was heavenly) accompanied by the fantastic Palazone wines.

We visited with the Kitchen and Table gourmet tour from Australia and toured the winery followed by a light lunch in the Locanda. The owner Giovanni provided a tasting of their amazing wines as well as the history of the farm and an explanation behind one of Umbria's most celebrated white wines.

I have never heard of anywhere in Italy where you can taste such amazing wine in Etruscan caves. This is an experience for every wine buff to add to their bucket list. The sommelier Maurizio who conducted the tasting was informative and down to earth but we were blown away by the uniqueness of it and the sense of place.

Make sure you reserve before going. Worth the side trip. Did not stay at the hotel, but would have been on the agenda if I had known how special this place was.

This hotel is a historical palace (13th century) with few rooms (just 7) located on a hill surrounded by the green landscape and vineyard of Umbria. It takes only 5’ from Orvieto by car.
What we liked:
1. Our room was big, modern, clean, well equipped and, most important, with a beautiful window (‘bifora’) which framed the landscape in front of the bad: what a beautiful view waking up in the morning.
2. The building itself. The palace is just so beautiful with its stones and its color in particular at the sunset. It deserves the visit!
3. The pool: quiet, with the garden and the view at the sunset.
4. The wine: The owner is a well known winemaker and the wine named ‘Palazzo del Guardiano’ is a prestigious bottle to be tested.
What may be improved:
1. The breakfast is very good and served on the terrace. However, some tables are exposed to the sun and this may be not relaxing.

I asked ANNA to marry me at Palazzone. I had never been to Italy before, spoke no Italian and from Los Angeles they helped me plan the whole proposal!! Paolo, who organizes events, was the sweetest most helpful man on this earth!!! I will remember him and Palazzone for the rest of my life. He helped me plan an engagement that was right out of the movies. The surprise, the violin player, the amazing wine!!! The flowers, the photos. He did so much for me. There was a lot to organize before we arrived and I was so nervous because our entire correspondence was through Facebook messenger. Everything was more amazing than I could have asked for and every moment flowed perfectly; seamlessly!! Did I tell you our room was spectacular too.... the view was ridiculous and the people who worked there treated us like family!! Orvieto is very charming, and we will be back to share wine with our adopted family at AziendaagricolaPalazzone !!!!

Dear Adam, Thank you so, so, so much for this generous review. As Anzienda Agricola Palazzone and Locanda Palazzone we feel so honored and so blessed in being part of yours and Anna's special day. Viogner, the wine you had during the event in the Grotta is fragrant and aromatic. Remind us of your powerful and beautiful love for each other. You both are a special addition to our family of friends. Can't wait to see you again. Cheers and Congratulations!

After reading a Wine Spectator article about Orvieto and the unique wines they produce, I sought out Palazzone. I arranged for a private experience of tasting wines and Maurizio was an incredible host. He speaks perfect English, has a delightful personality and I feel like I've made a new friend. The setting is spectacular and feels like you've ventured into an "out of the way/off the beaten track" place to enjoy wonderful wines. I even shipped several bottles home to share with friends. Don't miss this excursion!

Maurizio was a wonderful host. We were delighted with the wine tasting set up for just 3 of us, yummy food, some wonderful olive oil and of course the wines. The setting is lovely, You can see Orvieto in the distance while sitting and tasting wines facing the vines.

Before tasting we had a tour of the winery, where and how they make their wines, where they bottle it, where they store it. The grounds are beautiful and we would love to stay there next time we are in Italy.

This was one of our more enjoyable afternoons and our favorite wine tasting. We must admit
Maurizio brought great charm and enthusiasm to the tasting and was happy to share his knowledge with us.

We'd happily recommend this to others!

The combination of great wine, food, hospitality, beautiful architecture and the possibility to visit a cave where the wine is stored make this a unique experience. It should be part of every visit to central Italy and at the top of every wine lovers agenda. We were looked after so well and loved the atmosphere of the place as well as sitting with a nice glass of chilled Orvieto Classico while taking in views of Orvieto in the distance.

We discovered Pallazone wine in a small shop in Orvieto while taking a break from sight seeing. We asked our agri-tourismo hosts about it later and they were kind enough to arrange an appointment for a tasting. Maurizio provided us with a tour of their beautiful grounds and then led us through a tasting that was equally enjoyable. We sampled their wines with small food pairings that showcased the best qualities of both.
