About
Dates back to the beginning of 1950 the acquisition of the land where today Enrico Neri’s winery sits. We are in Bardano, on the outskirts of Orvieto, a town perched on a volcanic rock dedicated to the viticulture tradition since Etruscan times. This is the story of a family’s passion and their dedication to an ancient practise considered one of the oldest in Italy. Committed to this important heritage, the Neri family has decided to live and work in the country. Their wine is the result of this connection between what characterized their life and their devotion to nature.Enrico Neri’s Estate would like to welcome anyone, who wishes to know the family’s history, the way of living and the wine processing. Wine tasting tours are available all year around for big or small groups. If you wish to visit the winery and taste some wine or have an aperitif with friends, at Enrico Neri’s winery you can find dedicated areas ideal for a glass of wine and some local delicacies

    Excellent wine tasting for families
We had a wonderful wine tasting experience with Aurora, who looked after my husband and I, and our two children aged 6 and 9. Aurora was wonderfully calm, composed and gave us a lovely, relaxed experience. The wine tasting and food was excellent,as was the short tour through the cellar, and various caves. It was not too long for the children and she kept us engaged and interested. The wine tasting room is beautifully cool and the food was ample and delicious. We loved that we could do this with our children; we felt that they were very welcome and they were even given a big picture of wine making to colour in, with an enormous box of colouring in pens. We really appreciated the calm, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Thank you!

    Amazing venue and wines.
Absolutely gordious wineyard with spectacular views over the surrounding landscape. We had a 90 minutes tour with four wine-tastings together with local meats and cheeses. Everything was well organized and our guide very friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us interesting historical facts about this place. The wine that is produced here is absolutely amazing. Mostly white wines, but they also produce som red. Definetely worth the trip.

This was by far the best tour and tasting we had this trip. Andre (Andrew) was a great guide. He has worked there since a teen and has lots of knowledge about the winery and history. Great to see a family winery staying true to the tradition of Classico Italian wine. Alex also helped arrange or transportation. The white wines were fabulous, Andre made it easy to ship cases back to the US. Thanks for hosting us.

We stopped here as a part of a private day trip to Umbria with RomeInLimo (see separate review). This was the most special experience. My husband, mother and I had the winery to ourselves in late October. Andrea? gave us a wonderful tour of the property. We visited the wine cellar which is an Etruscan tomb! The setting is movie worthy. Just paradise. The wine is delicious. We ordered a case to be shipped home! Our lunch included local meats, cheeses and lasagna. I would most definitely return (I wish I could live here but that's a different story :)

Our visit to Cantine Neri was the highlight of a few days in the countryside near Orvieto. Our tour guide and sommelier, Graciela, met us in the courtyard before leading us through the spotlessly clean and thoroughly modern wine-making facilities. Next, we walked down into the olive orchard and into 3 caves originally carved out of the hillside by the Etruscans for use as burial tombs and then expanded by the Knights Templar to serve as escape tunnels.

Our tasting took place in a beautiful dining room, accompanied by an incredible 4-course meal and all the estate wine we could drink. We loved the Americo blend so much that we bought a case and had it sent home to California -- the perfect souvenir of our wonderful wine tasting experience!

We were met by Andre who explained the history of this family run winery. The winery is located in a spectacular setting overlooking the vineyard where the Neri wine has been produced since 2006. The great grand father acquired the estate in 1952 and it was Enrico that changed the emphasis to wine making and I am glad he did. The wine is very good!
We discussed the processing ( the grapes are picked by hand) and the storage. Andre showed us the large stainless still vats , some 30 of them holding around 90000 litres of wine , if I recall correctly. We were then shown the basalt cellar housing the oak vats, once used by the Etruscans to bury their dead ( don’t worry only old bottles of wine laid down no bodies!). The white wine is stored in the vats for six months but the red wine they make is stored for a year or more. We then moved inside to taste the wine and Andre arranged for a small lunch of bread, pecorino and meats to accompany the wine. A very nice addition to accompany some very nice white wines. Their Classico was my favourite though they also make an “orange” wine which is unique and nice too. A darker colour but with not oak after taste.
We walked away having bought some wines and having had a really nice 2 hours. It is a very friendly winery and highly recommended for a visit or just pop into buy your Classico, it is great!

My husband and I stumbled across Cantine Neri earlier today and couldn’t wait to share what a wonderful experience we had! We did not have reservations and happened to get to the tasting room right as another group was starting their tasting (luckily they graciously allowed us to join them). The young man leading the tasting was very knowledgable about the vineyard, wine making process and family history. The tastings were very generous and the wine was delicious!! (Views and tasting room were beautiful as well!) Highly recommend!! :) Also, if you do go I hope you get to meet Gypsy- the unofficial mascot

This was the only winery tour we were able to do in Italy so I have nothing to compare it to except wine tastings in America or South Africa. This was very interesting as we got to visit the wine storage caves and the olive oil caves, which I believe were ancient Etruscan caves. We were surprised to be charged 25 euro each for the tour after we purchased 15 bottles of wine. We felt that fee should have been waived.
