Notwithstanding a 15€/person fee, the service is absolutely lacking. Completely over clouded in the entry and in the train, people riding without the masks and no control at all.
Avoid if you can... especially if you are a serious hiker as above it is just a simple walk and the amount of people, without any hiking expertise is really too much.

Compared to the classic gondola, chairlift or cable car this facility does not offer great views outside and I personally do not like it very much. The price is in line with other facilities in the area but they donate scenarios that are worth the cost of the ticket. Once at high altitude you can choose to go left to the Rifugio Resciesa and to the cross of the Resciesa di Fuori peak, while on the right a long, easy and beautiful walk leads to the solitary and beautiful Malga Brogles.

beautiful lift that leads directly to the center of Ortisei. Interesting walks with breathtaking views.
Why the negative judgment? I made a reentry together with a giant schnauzer without a muzzle-.which despite protests remained muzzleless. Is it possible that none of the staff check? We wait for someone to get hurt? Access to cabins for molossoids not protected by muzzles is prohibited on public transport and staff must check. Then on arrival I discovered that the truth the dogs of great size were even two.
For other the structure is highly recommended

We had bought the Val Gardena card to cover all the mountain cars (cable cars and funiculars) so this was one of the things we decided to try out as it was covered in the card and did not cost us any additional fee. Amongst the other ski-lifts, cable cars and funiculars which are typically to take you either to ski or to see the mountain / views from different heights, this funicular impressed me the least. Again that opinion may have been formed because the other cable cars in the area, offer way more spectacular views so maybe my expectations were too high to start off with. If you do have the val gardena card, definitely go for it. If not, then maybe skip this one out especially if you are on a budget!

Great way to reach the Alpe Resciesa. Easiest way to access if coming from the central square in Ortisei is via the escalators and then the tunnel with the moving walkways. After exiting the tunnel, continue up the road directly ahead and then turn right at the sign. After reaching the top, there is a decent, but gradual, climb to the main trail

Taking this funicular up to Raschötz offers great views and great hiking opportunities. As well as several restaurants, one directly at the top station, the Raschötzhütte is worth the hike. Also worth to hike up to the summit cross - spectacular views of e.g. Geislergruppe, Sella, Langkofelmassiv, Rosengarten. In the distance on clear days see the Zillertaler Alpen, Tofanamassiv, Marmolada, etc. - one of my favorites in the Dolomites

The Resciesa is an interesting funicular ride (expensive on its own, but included in our Val Gardena passes), whisking you high up above Ortisei to a relatively easy and level walking path in the midst of beautiful mountain scenery. We walked in the direction of the Resciesa hut and continued on to the little Santa Croce church, and then turned around to head back as it began to ran. We briefly stopped at the Cason hut before returning to the Resciesa station and our ride back down.

You can rent sleds at the entrance and then go to the top for 3km of sledding trail, a little dangerous but a lot of fun! We brought our 4 year old son with a helmet and he and husband went blazing down the mountain. I was more cautious and used my shoes to go as slow as possible. Totally worth it! Bring something to cover your face. Helmets/goggles would be good to use too.

We are definitely not hikers and it was not ski season but we took the funicolare for the views - and they were spectacular. We enjoyed the ride up. The restaurant was closed (shoulder season) so we just relaxed and took photos.

Is it the hiking suitable for a family with teenagers from Chalet Resciesa to Brogleshütte?
In general, how long will it take? thanks.

The Resciesa website list 14 Euro one-way and 19.50 Euro round trip. Is there either a family discount or discounted prices for children (my wife and I will be traveling with our 5yo and 13yo)?

Hi, I don't remember. Please, look the web site. Best regards!

is there a walk from the top funicular station back down to Ortisei.
Written February 10, 2018
The road that brings from Ortisei to Resciesa is never particularly steep and departs in the neighbourhood called Martin.
It takes a couple of hours to go uphill and approximatly 90 minutes to discend.
There are countless alternatives and smaller trails, like the one starting from Solaria, in Ortisei.
