Beautiful piazza, the highlight of Montepulciano, well worth the easy climb up the narrow streets. Climb up the tower to get impressive views of the Tuscan landscape.

Hang at night and have a pizza and a glass of wine (or 3). Enjoy the local cuisine and feel like an Italian after the second glass. Awesome. Great buildings all around the piazza. Welcome to Italy !

We were in Montepulciano on a busy market day, and it was difficult finding a parking spot. Some streets were closed, so we had also had a hard time finding our way out of town--which led to a spectacular country drive! The walk up to...More

The Piazza Grande is simply beautiful in its architecture and history. The duomo, while not beautiful from the outside is most impressive on the inside, especially if you happen upon a wedding. The palazzo communale is also well worth visiting. Don't forget a photo op...More

Montepulciano is the heart of Tuscany and the piazza is the heart the town. The moment you walk through the port a Prato, with its twin doors, to trap the enemy in no man's land, where they were finished off with boiling tar from the...More

This square can't be skipped in Montepulciano and it shouldn't be skipped. When you are in the middle of it, you don't know where to look first. Beautiful surroundings and place to take photos for your memories

Piazza Grande is a fascinating jumble of medieval and renaissance buildings around a paved town square. Many of the primary attractions of Montepulciano are on or near the square. They include the town hall, an old courthouse, a centuries old winery and the duomo (cathedral)...More

This was one of our favorites among the hill towns and the piazza is the literal and figurative apex of the town. Start at the Porto al Prato at the north end of the town and walk all the way up the main street to...More

We are two couples with a baby (grandparents in 50s and daughter and son-in-law with 7 month old grandson). This Piazza (Plaza or town square) offers everything you need in Tuscany! The square has City Hall, the old Court House, the Cathedral and free wine...More

We had a great experience using a company in Cortona for our visits around Tuscany. “Together in Tuscany”. Check out their website and contact them. They will do a great job putting visits around the area together for you.
