Climb up the tower for the best vistas of the city and surrounding countryside. It's well worth the narrow stairs and any claustrophobia you may experience.

There is a lift part way up but we took the stairs to the top! The stairway gets very narrow in the bell tower but the view at the top is spectacular! There is a 365 degree view of the Val D'Orcia...Tuscany at it's best! You can see the San Biagio Church and the Piazza Grande. This view will be... More

Montepulciano itself rests on a hill, and climbing the stairs up this tower gives you the most amazing overview of the surroundings. The old clock on the tower wall is also remarkable.

The place is already nice for visiting. However in summer they run a musical festival (Cantiere) and you can have the fantastic experience of attending a classical concert in a middle-age square, under the stars.

There are so many piazzas in Italy, unfortunately nothing about this made it memorable. There was workmen setting up for an event which prevented total access, also the usual maintenace work being done.

Parking around Montepulciano is a real hassle --- especially if you do not know where to go. Expect to do a lot of walking after you find a spot --- even on a week day in shoulder season. The layout of the old town is interesting with a lot of steep, cobbled streets leading up to the main square &... More

We were pleased to see the original architecture had not been covered up by a facade. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed our visit here.

My husband and I went inside the palce and went up and it was nice, there is an option to walk up by stairs or lift, the view from there is very nice on Toscania
