We got very lucky when we found Gattavecchi. Tasting was a great experience, and their wine is now a staple for us

Fantastic tour of the ancient caves and creepy dungeon by one of the owners herself was the only thing better than an amazing lunch and wine pairing. SUCH wonderful chianti- you'll never want to leave!

We rented and apartment in Montepulciano for a month, and our favorite place ended up being the Gattavecchi Winery. It is one of the real wine cellars that is actually used in the town, and is not a commercial come-on -- you have to find...More

Loved this place. Walk down a narrow alley to their restaurant where you eat outdoors. Great food and wine. We walked down in the cellar for a while while they were setting up the table (we had 8 of us)

Although the managers (owners?) and the staff are extremely nice, information regarding wine production and ageing provided during the short tour is scarce. For the tasting, I would expect something more than just providing the wines and letting the visitors taste them on their own...More
