After not being able to get reservations for a few wineries my husband and I were interested in, we decided to just explore the zone and find what we could. By chance a shop keeper by Lago Trasimeno recommended Gattavecchi. He even tried to call but didn't get through. We went anyway given that it would be impossible to NOT... More

The women who spoke little English implied we couldn't taste and sent us on our way after ignoring ... Super rude, go elsewhere. Tons of better options in town

We stopped in during a day trip in the region and enjoyed a tasting and seeing the cellar. The family owned winery is a gem with excellent wines and olive oil! We enjoyed learning about the family history of the winery while talking to one of the younger family members about their wines and olive oils. One of my favorite... More

We had heard good things about this place before, but were extremely disappointed with the poor service and unfriendly old lady who served us. She outright lied about not doing any tastings, and basically shrugged her shoulders very (un)tacitly insinuating we vacate the premises. Ignore this store and move onto better wineries and customer oriented staff.

We did a wine tasting and bruschetta sampler for dinner...my partner got the Tuscan ragu pasta as well and all were divine. Daniela came out to discuss the different wines with us which was so nice. We loved the Rosso and vino nobile so much we came back a few days later to buy a case (plus 6 more). Everyone... More

The winery owner and his wife were excellent hosts and provided a great time. We toured the cellar, tasted many of their wines, and bought a few. The highlight of the winery was the cooking class attended by my wife and 22 year old daughter taught by the winery owner's wife who is the chef. They had a 3 1/2... More

I've been to this winery twice now and have not been disappointed by anything. The selection of wine is amazing, and I even found a white that I like (and I hate white usually). The vino nobile is the pride and joy of Gattavecchi, so make sure you try it while you're there. The entire staff is there to ensure... More

Gattavecchi is a charming hillside winery a short walk from the center of Montepulciano. Classic Tuscan countryside panoramic views on the way and a genuine friendly welcome upon arrival. Toured the vineyards, cask aging facilities and the farm. Enjoyed a nice tasting of their Vino Nobile, Rosso and blends - quite good. Highlight was touring the Etruscan tomb found in... More

I scheduled a wine tour and lunch. I specifically asked Daniella what we should do first-lunch or tour. She recommended tour. After reading reviews on Trip Advisor, I was expecting to pay E20 per person and have a tasting and some appetizers. When we arrived, we got a 5 minute speech from her brother and then he said "I have... More

The very winery is a little remote, located on a far side of the Montepulciano hill; it takes as much as 15 minutes to walk there. The staff is very hospitable and the wine is decent; we bought a bottle of young dry red wine.
