About
The first Italian Butterfly House, is one of the more visited attraction of the Province of Padova. The Living Butterfy exhibition is one of the first realized in the world and was opened in 1988. It includes about 1,500 square meters covered with various living exhibitions (the Eden butterfly gardens, Amazon, Indoaustralian) which include many free butterflies in their natural habitat and many other species of animals and plants from many tropical countries. In addition to this, during holidays, or by appointment for groups and schools, are active many interactive workshops and fun activities in the Fairy Wood (6000 square meters on a mythological nature trail). The Butterfly House is part of the circuit MicroMegaMondo of Butterfly Arc, which also includes the Great Exploratorium Esapolis, the Living Museum of the Province of Padua. The MicroMegaMondo of Butterfly Arc has been licensed by the Zoological Garden, issued by the Ministries of Environment, Agriculture and Health, and is engaged in conservation projects, education and scientific research and offers to young people and students, internship opportunities and traineeships. The park also offers picnic areas, ample free parking, accessibility for the disabled and an interesting themed shop. The facility is located in the center of Montegrotto Terme (one of the largest spas across Europe with a great deal curative thermal cares, playful and well-being), close to an important archaeological site from Roman times and near the Regional Park of the Euganean Hills.

We definetly loved the experice in the butterfly arc, where you can see very different and exotic butterflies from close range together with spectacular insects and small animals.
If you deside to go i srongly suggest the laboratory with a little extra cost you and especially your kids have a great experice seeing and touch exotic insects guided by the center coordinator.
Didn't have time to see the fairies...if u want to see everything you will need 3hrs.

Enchanted forest

The butterflies are plentiful and colourful we learnt so much about them and the dragons. Then ending the visit in the fairytale garden was definitely the cherry on the top.

We are very happy you left a positive feedback on our park, which is the result of years of passion and innovation. Most visitors appreciate it very much, even if someone, perhaps limited by some magic filter of some witch, can not you see how many wonders therein are kept. Your positive review gives us the courage and the strength to continue on our path, which now also belongs to you and to future generations. We also thank you, and above all, on behalf of all those who, with great passion and dedication, work to ensure that the Butterfly House and Fairy Wood of Montegrotto Terme can always be a magical place to meet the pure nature, as butterflies, and the relationship between man and nature, represented by us from the myths and legends about fairies that give us the opportunity to see and appreciate our surroundings, well beyond our cultural limits.

The butterfly displays and information boards were excellent but, from a personal point of view, there was too much space given to the stories of elves, ogres etc!!

Well worth a visit if you're staying in Montegrotto. To walk amongst dozens of different butterfly species is a fantastic experience and is a delight for children.

Magic, to stay in a room with many butterflies, kids love it
Mar 2015 • Family
Been here last sunday with my wife and our 2 small kids (aged 3 and 6). We could not enjoy the kids labo entertainement which they do on sunday, to avoid to get back late for lunch (the labo was at 11.30), which I would recommend to do if you have time (they do it only on Sundays or Holy Days). Anyway was amazing, never seen something similar, not too big, but quite emotional. Afer the time with butterflies, we went for the fairies forest, that was below our expectations, but our kids had great fun with one king puppet, that was talking when you do the right thing (they need to discover it). A lovely sunday, the ticket may seems expensive, but if you never experience a similar place is absolutely worth it.

Lots of amazing bittefrflies flying around you
Aug 2014 • Family
Visit starts off with a 10-15 minute talk about butterflies and other insects, in Italian and also English. Some good display areas with pupa etc. Main area has maybe 30 different species, too many to count really. It's great to observe butterflies feeding at very close quarters, they are concentrating too much to worry about people.
Not so easy to find though but my Italian friends used their GPS.

Very nice place to spend some time with the kids
Aug 2014 • Family
We came here expecting to just see some butterflies and spend just a little time, but found a lot more and ended up spending over 2 hours here. There are a few sections with tons of very nice large butterflies of many different species flying around, and also some other interesting animals, fish, insects, lizards, etc. to see. My daughter actually even managed to get a butterfly to stay on her hand a couple of times, which thrilled her to no end. After the main butterfly/animal section (which is kept very hot and humid for the butterflies), you exit to a nice cool (relatively; even in August...) wooded area, the "Fairy Woods", where you can walk around and see fairytale creatures and houses etc. There's even a playground for the kids at one point. All in all highly recommended for spending a couple of hours with the kids.

Nice place for kids and those, who are kids in their hearts
Sep 2013 • Family
This place is not really in Padova, but in its region Montegrotto Terme, PD, Italija, that is why your gps navigation will hardly find it in Padova. That is the reason why the index is very important to enter while searching for it.
Anyway all of us (two grown ups, our 9 y.o.son and especially - our 4 y.o.daughter) liked it very much. You may see not only butterflys, but also salamandras, chameleons, tarantula, worms, fishes and other animals.
Entrance costs - 9 EUR grown ups, kids 3-12 - 7 EUR, kids to 3 e.o. free.
there is also a souvenir shop in the Arc.
