The first Italian Butterfly House, is one of the more visited attraction of the Province of Padova. The Living Butterfy exhibition is one of the first realized in the world and was opened in 1988. It includes about 1,500 square meters covered with various living exhibitions (the Eden butterfly gardens, Amazon, Indoaustralian) which include many free butterflies in their natural habitat and many other species of animals and plants from many tropical countries. In addition to this, during holidays, or by appointment for groups and schools, are active many interactive workshops and fun activities in the Fairy Wood (6000 square meters on a mythological nature trail). The Butterfly House is part of the circuit MicroMegaMondo of Butterfly Arc, which also includes the Great Exploratorium Esapolis, the Living Museum of the Province of Padua. The MicroMegaMondo of Butterfly Arc has been licensed by the Zoological Garden, issued by the Ministries of Environment, Agriculture and Health, and is engaged in conservation projects, education and scientific research and offers to young people and students, internship opportunities and traineeships.

The park also offers picnic areas, ample free parking, accessibility for the disabled and an interesting themed shop. The facility is located in the center of Montegrotto Terme (one of the largest spas across Europe with a great deal curative thermal cares, playful and well-being), close to an important archaeological site from Roman times and near the Regional Park of the Euganean Hills.

Well worth a visit if you're staying in Montegrotto. To walk amongst dozens of different butterfly species is a fantastic experience and is a delight for children.

A bit overpriced at 9 euros for nothing ver special. I've been to other butterfly exhibits that are much better.

Been here last sunday with my wife and our 2 small kids (aged 3 and 6). We could not enjoy the kids labo entertainement which they do on sunday, to avoid to get back late for lunch (the labo was at 11.30), which I would recommend to do if you have time (they do it only on Sundays or Holy... More

Visit starts off with a 10-15 minute talk about butterflies and other insects, in Italian and also English. Some good display areas with pupa etc. Main area has maybe 30 different species, too many to count really. It's great to observe butterflies feeding at very close quarters, they are concentrating too much to worry about people. Not so easy to... More

We came here expecting to just see some butterflies and spend just a little time, but found a lot more and ended up spending over 2 hours here. There are a few sections with tons of very nice large butterflies of many different species flying around, and also some other interesting animals, fish, insects, lizards, etc. to see. My daughter... This place is not really in Padova, but in its region Montegrotto Terme, PD, Italija, that is why your gps navigation will hardly find it in Padova. That is the reason why the index is very important to enter while searching for it. Anyway all of us (two grown ups, our 9 y.o.son and especially - our 4 y.o.daughter) liked... More

Good experience for younger children. Many different varieties of butterflies from several continents. They like to land on sweet-smelling children! (wear yellow or red!) Check out their website for more info.
