My husband took this round trip on a Sunday afternoon. It made it a super easy day trip to Montecatini Alto from Montecatini Terme. Depending on where you sit/stand you may be able to get some good pictures, but I wouldn't stress over this as you will get awesome pictures once you're finally at the top! The ticket station had... The funicular from Monetecatinin Terme to Montecatino Alto is a charming little 1800s cable car that looks a bit like a red caboose. The trips are about every half hour except for their lunch break from 12:30 to 14:00 - 2pm. Buy a round trip ticket at the bottom of the hill and board. The slope is gentle at first,... More

If it's running, this is a must-do part of your trip to Montecatini Terme. Take the funicular to Montecatini Alto to visit the fine restaurants and enjoy the view.

For 7 euros this is an excellent way to reach Montecatinig Alto. It runs all day until fairly late except for a break between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. Although the smallish wooden cable car looks 50 years old it ran smoothly up to Montecatini Alto. For the adventurous (not me) there are front and back platforms plus 3 inside seating... More

Good price (7,00) for a round trip. Mostly comfortable. Leaves every half hourish, with a break from 1330 to 1400

It's worth going on the Funicolare to visit Montecatini Alto. The view from up top is spectacular. Getting to the Funicolare is an uphill walk. Plan on taking at least 15 minutes from the park and open air market (walking briskly).

What a great view as we ascended towards Montecatini Alto with amazing views across the Tuscan countryside. Well worth the €7 for a return trip.

The ride up is beautiful, the ride down breathtaking, especially if you stand in the open-air part at the very bottom. The town itself is small, but the ride by itself is worthwhile.

Lovely experience, fab views and quaint trains village at top Montecatini Alto a little bit too much of a tourist trap for my taste but worth a visit.
