And long way up without it to lovely Alto, 7 euro. Every half hour. Get at the front for best pictures up. And the back on way down!

Some people have commented that it is expensive but at €7.00 return per person, it's the only way to get to Montecatini Alto. It's fun and only takes 10 minutes one way. Beats walking or driving!

It's quite a short trip up to Montecatini Alto but it's a fun trip on the funicular railway. There are great views out over the lower town, and also a welcome breeze on very hot days. The train runs every half hour throughout the day with a break from 1 to 2:30pm. Tickets can be purchased for single or return... More

After a tough morning spent sunbathing, we made our way to the Funicular station, which was a fifteen minute walk from our hotel in central Montecatini, for a trip up the hill. Dating from the late 1800's, the cable tramcar makes its way up the first gentle, then much steeper slope (38% at one point!) towards Montecatini Alto on a... More

The cable journey is well worth the €7 return and leave plenty of time so you can get to the front or rear of the carriage. The village itself isn't that spectacular but there are a few restaurants catering for tourists and the food was good with a variety of budgets. We got the 12:30 and the 15:00 back which... More

Nice little tram system leading up to the hill top town of Montecatini Alto from Montecatini Terme. Costs €7 for a return ticket per person. It is on a track but people with a fear of heights may find this trip a little worrying as you do go quite high. Takes around 15 minutes to ascend and descend. All in... More

We used the funicular twice to take fellow guests to Montecatini Alto. It always ran on time, was great value and offers the best way of getting to this very interesting hilltown.

I am very glad we took the old funicular to Montecatini Alto. The funicular is awesome and we had a great ride up to Montecatini Alto. The views up there are amazing and you can spend some time wandering around the beautiful old streets. There are a number of restaurants where you can dine. I definetly recommend a ride in... More

Worth the short trip for the view, stand out on the back pkatforn for umbelievable views. If you cant cope with walking, as it is hilly, you can go up on one trip and come back on the nest , worth iyt for the views, Only 7 Euros return
