We took advantage of the hotel service for those who do not stay there, at the price of 60 € per person, including parking, sun loungers, umbrella, kanoa use and two courses of your choice very good and abundant at the beach restaurant. The magnificent place, with a unique quiet and tranquility, very nice view of the bay from the terrace of the hotel. All very friendly staff, excellent beach service and restaurant. Would definitely stay again. For this experience, the uniqueness of the place and the service offered, the value for money is honest.

Breathtaking location, elegant setting and impeccable service. If I have to go and find the hair in the egg I say that the very young reception staff are sometimes awkward and slow, they need a very experienced Guide next door. Room service and various impeccable cleaning, well-kept greenery, heavenly beaches and restaurant and bar services of the highest level. A place to relax in the true sense of the word. I would go back a thousand times. Go there. Congratulations.

Absolutely stunning we stayed two nights, it was heaven after driving all over Puglia. Room was spacious and very comfortable with all the amenities you would need. Food was great, Antonio at the restaurant looked after us so well. We were sad we had two stormy rainy days and couldn’t enjoy the beach. Hopefully we are able to return

Best known as Baia delle Zagare, the most iconic of the Gargano. In concession to a hotel structure. The municipality of Mattinata issues 20 free daily passes, to be collected in person on the morning of the visit at the Info Point of Mattinata, in Via delle Camelie (in high season the line is formed before 8, office opening time).
The bay is defaced by an elevator carved into the rock and even the supporting structure for the hotel helipad! As if that were not enough you can park only in the grounds of a certain Ninotto for the modest amount of 20 €! The figure includes access to a path that leads to a forbidden beach (Mr!) from which to swim to the bay of Zagare, circumventing the pass system. In short, perfect example of bad management of the territory. To be avoided.

Views is beautiful, the coast road to get to this place is a narrow and curved road but in return with a breathtaking view! The problem comes when we take the intersection to descend into the only viable road to get to the bay at the end we find the gates of private hotels and the bars ... we are not really told politely by a security officer that to access the bay we would have to have a pass ... He gave us no other indication.
However this pass should be taken at the office of the municipality of Mattinata about 20 Min from the place.
Unfortunately we had not had any indication about it from the sites where we looked for how to access.Fact is that according to the municipality in mid-August on Sunday a person before going to the cove of orange blossoms must present themselves to queue at the tourism office of the municipality of Mattinata to take the pass since this pass can not be done even via the internet.
So before planning a visit here, bring your own pass.
If you only come for the weekend you will be as screwed as we are and you will not be able to access this wonderful bay

The bay is so beautiful (we could see it by sea doing the tour of the caves and the coast), but it has all been privatized (I attach a photo taken from the sea depicting the hotel elevator) can access the beach only hotel customers and 20 other "lucky ones" who queue in the morning in town to collect 20 day passes (I do not know if they are charged). At the end of the road leading to the bay there is a huge gate complete with guard and the games end there. Too bad! 😔

Having stayed in Vieste, we decided to go about 30 km to visit the famous Baia delle Zagare. And nothing. I realized that Italy is over. Beach, property of the State, completely in the hands of the 2 resorts with rooms from 200 euros per night. But whatever, the alternative could have been to go to queue in front of the Municipality of Mattinata from 6:30 in the morning. At the end of it all.... with 25 euros I visited the bay with a beautiful boat trip.

Absolutely gorges beach and good breakfast with some healthy options (fresh fruits, plain yogurt and granola, eggs, fresh orange juice, whole grain bread). These are only two things that we liked about the hotel.
Once you come they immediately make you feel uncomfortable by labeling you according to the room you stay. And they really make it very clear whether you are at the restaurant or reception or the beach. Do you want room service? No, not possible, you have to stay in a suite. You have to beg them about it. You want a table with a view at the restaurant? No, you have to stay in a suite, even if some tables are empty. And again ask - ask - ask for a table. You want to choose your sun bed? No, not possible, you sit at the last row, first row is empty for the whole day, but you cannot be there. And so on...
We were travelling with children, so I booked two triple rooms close to each other and later called the hotel to confirm it. However upon arrival we were given rooms on the different floors.
The rooms were very basic, lacking any character, the shower cabins just tiny. However rooms were well cleaned every day. We paid about 600 euro per night for two rooms. They definitely were not worth it. There is absolutely no sound insulation. You hear every single word from the neighbour rooms or outside or chatting cleaning ladies.
Restaurant on the beach has limited choices, so do not expect any rich sea food lunch as in other places in Puglia. Some of the staff on the beach is indifferent or even rude.
If you want to spend a day on the beach after your morning check out, be ready to pay 27 euro per umbrella (and no, you cannot choose it).
My recommendation is to avoid this hotel, stay somewhere else and hire a boat to visit the beach.

I don't usually leave reviews but I felt this time was a MuSt to leave one.
I'm from Gargano and me and my husband are coming traveling from London , I truly believe " baia delle zagare" is one of the most beautiful
Place we ever seen. I visited the hotel last year for the first time and my husband and I have had one of the worst experience ever there , however due the beautiful place and view we decided to go and stay this July for only one night due what we experienced last year.
I can't tell how much the team and the management has changed, everyone was super welcoming and friendly, From Giorgio at the reception to Tommaso and Fabio , the all team made our experience so much different that we wanted to extend our stay there. I had the best Thursday summer night there with "Puglia night" the food was spectacular and it was so long since I wasn't testing a such local puglia food. I can't thank enough the all team for the amazing service , and we will def come back next year . I would highly recommend this hotel and trust me you will love every corner of this place .
Thanks once again
For making us so special

Wonderful beach - you can access the free section of the beach despite what the hotel staff tell you.

You must visit this beach - spectacular!

Coming from Australia, where, by law, all beaches and rivers are public spaces, we found the fact that the best beach areas in Italy are run by private hotels and resorts quite shocking.

We went down to try to get to the Baia Delle Zagare beaches but found the route totally barred by the entrance to the private hotel areas. The guys at the gates said the beaches were all private, only for the use of hotel guests, and there was no public access. The fact is - they were lying! There are designated free public areas on these beaches and they are accessible if you know how. We found the way to the north beach and the free section was small but beautiful - great to swim and perfect views of the Faraglioni rock formations in the water.

Route: the main road is the SP53 from Mattinata to Vieste. The route to the hotels is a turn off from this road. Exactly 350 metres from this turn off (travelling in the direction of Vieste) the road makes a sharp bend to the right and goes over a bridge at the bend. Just before the bend/bridge there is a small track to the LEFT of the road (see the sign beside the track in my photos). Go in here. There is a small amount of parking (we were on our bikes). From the parking area take the track that goes under the bridge (which the SP53 goes over) and follow downwards for about 20 minutes. Not too rough but could be challenging on a hot day with small children. Once you hit the beach turn left and you will be on the public area. Ignore the signs about “falling rocks” - that is just put there to discourage people from using the beach for free.

The hotel bar/cafe at the beach is restricted to hotel guests (snobs!) so take some food and drink of your own. It is an amazing spot to swim

Have fun.
