After you've had a fabulous lunch or dinner across the street at Marsala's best little cafe (Ciacco) check to see if the doors to this church are open. If so, you're in luck as not only does it have a medieval blue & gold altar backpiece, but if you ask the attendant, you may be shown the Roman frescoes from about 500 AD that were found when the church was being restored. They're in the back room in the passage to the sacristy where there's a cabinet with carvings of 'souls in purgatory'. The Madonna inside the church is from 1632 and was painted by Giovanni Cagini.

Used for events other than services these days and fitted out rather as a comfy theatre, nevertheless the Baroque interior was ornate, interesting and photogenic with ceiling art and fine sculpted plasterwork on the walls.

Within this church are original works of art dating from Roman times. Incredible really! I was given a personal tour by an older gentleman who was thrilled that I was so interested in all the details and, although I am not fluent in Italian, I understood enough to be very impressed.

We happened to be walking past this ornate church, noticed the side door was open, and so took a look in. It's certainly worth a look inside if you can. It has a wonderfully painted ceiling, with what look to be cinema seats to help you view them without falling over backwards.
There was no entrance fee, but we made a donation.

This really lovely little baroque church is in the town of Marsala, built around 1600. It is very nicely located in a square so one can really appreciate the very ornate facade and imposing entrance to it. The original columns are wonderful. The ceiling and altar screen are very beautiful and the whole has a tranquil atmosphere away from the bustle of the town.

Don't miss this little gem just of the main street. The name, the facade and the contents are all amazing. Inside are the statues that are carried around the street at Easter - the Misteri. Info about who made them and which groups of artisans support them is all fascinating.

This church, which is seldom used for religious functions but houses concerts, is a great example ob baroque churches built in 1600. The footprint is that of a latin cross and the facade is ornate, well maintained and with original columns. It is in a lovely little square with a nice fountain. Lovely green majolica on the roof.
