When I first saw the picture of the cable car, I thought not for me. But when we got the bus here, I thought, well now that I am here, seems a shame not to go for it. It certainly was an experience, small open cages, which you get on quickly as they slow down, the half door is shut... More

The cable car is somewhat different (standing up in steel cages), the bus to the station goes only every hour but the view from the top is really fantastic. Take notice though that the cable car "rests" between 13:00 and 14:20 so you can get stuck at the top for an extra hour as we were...

We have seen a presentation brochure while visiting Fort Falcon and we had a little bit of debate in our family about the safety of the "bird cage" seen in the pictures. Of course, we checked it on tripadvisor.com and finally we reluctantly decided to give it a try. What followed was an excellent experience: the single tricky part was... More

Reaching the top of the mount is either possible hiking or using a cableway from Marciana. The view on the island and the Tuscan archipelago is spectacular. Maybe a little bit expensive so better to go hiking!

Nice hiking experience! The hiking trail from Marciana alta can be done in about 1h30min if you are an experienced hiker, an - say - two hours if you walk at a more leisurly pace. A bit hard at the end, but you are close to the peak at that point! :)) People managing the bar upthere are nice and... More

The trip to Monte Capanne is really nice. The lift to the top of the mountain is quite remarkable, it feels a standing in a bird cage going up. The view from the mountain is amazing and if there are no clouds, you can see every part of the island, from Portoferraio to Chiessi and from Marciana Marina to Marina... More

Taking the lift up Mt Capanne was a truly great experience for us and our kids (4,6) - they really enjoyed it!

You can get to this lovely visitor attraction on the public bus and it's definitely worth doing. Although other people have said that you need to be quick getting in and out of the lift baskets I felt that the operators have a little bit of flexibility and can slow it down marginally when children or oldies like us are... Well worth the sweat and hard work to climb this awesome view point. For the slightly less adventurous you also have the option of the chair lift. Allow 2 hours to get up and 1 half hours to get down. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, rich wildlife and epic view of the Tuscan archipelago upon arriving at the top.

The cable car is more like a yellow cage or basket without any cover. Each “cage” can hold up to two persons only and one could only stand. I used it alone. You can easily commit suicide and it should be the most unsafe cable car that I’ve seen. One had to jump or run into the cage in order... More
