Now relocated but still excellent

The centre has now relocated to the rear of Coolings Garden Centre - just at the start of the nature trail (which is a great activity out but thats a seperate review). Park at the garden centre, walk through the centre out the rear doors and diagonally right is a hut. This is the start of the nature trail and where you get collected for Hawkforce.

We got the 2 hour falconry experience and it was excellent. Nick walked us up close to the birds explaining as we went, watched a flying display and then got to hold the birds. I held about 5 different types and there was no time limit - I only gave them back when my arm started cramping!

The people running it were very knowledgable and enthusiastic.

We had the 2 hour falconry experience and thoroughly enjoyed it.
To put it bluntly the constant drizzle and chill tried to disrupt the experience but the teams humour and manner got past that hurdle. Unfortunately because of the weather the birds were not flying but we were still able to handle them and see them close up.
They are now located at Coolings Green & Pleasant in Knockholt and the setup seems excellent. With a nature trail and café on site it is a perfect location for the birds. The team were friendly and knowledgable with the birds and gave us the opportunity to handle any we wanted with no safety issues at all. Having an owl perched on your hand with its massive eyes just six inches or so from your own was an incredible experience. Would definitely recommend this and would just hope you have better weather as seeing them fly would have just capped the day off. As it was we had to make do with a large hot chocolate and some coffee and walnut cake!

So much more than we expected

What a great morning we had with the beautiful birds. We learnt so much about them, saw owls fly and swoop for their prey with Nick and had the wonderful experience of being able to hold the birds ourselves. Josh, our staff guide, was excellent giving us plenty of time to hold a variety of birds and telling us so much about them. Excellent experience.

We bought a 1-day falconry experience for our Dad's birthday and he had a fantastic time. He learnt about and handled several birds and got to fly some in the woods around the Hop Farm. Our Mum paid just a small entrance fee and was allowed to keep him company and take photos all day.
The Hawkforce site includes a small zoo with some interesting animals and various activities & demonstrations throughout the day run by staff who clearly care about the animals and visitors - all-in-all a very nice, family-run attraction.
It's also part of / next to the Hop Farm complex which has various other attractions, mainly suited to younger kids.

We had been given the experience as a present and had no idea what to expect.
It was a very pleasant surprise.
We were greeted by Dan who was very friendly and helpful. The experience lasted much longer than advertised, it began with an introduction to all their birds and a talk on interesting facts about them. There was a demonstration of flying from some Hawks and owls.
We then handled bilbo the owl, who is magnificent.
Dans colleague then took us into a wooded area where we saw Tilly the falcon flying in the trees and had some handling with her too.
The trip finished off with a display of flying as a bird attacked a spinning lure.
Both staff were always friendly and helpful and obviously have great enthusiasm for their work and the subject and it was infectious.
I'd recommend this very highly indeed, you'll really enjoy it and it's thoroughly educational too!

Super group if you like birds of prey.
Will not be at the Hop Farm much longer as the owners are rubbish.
Looking for a new venue, will advise as and when they find one.

Brilliant!!!! Loved it!!!! Can't comment about the rest of the Hop Farm which looked rather drab but Hawkforce Falconry was superb. We had a two hour Bird of Prey experience, which ended up being more like three hours. We got up close and personal with the birds, watched them fly, found out loads about them and were able to hold several. Treacle, the very affectionate cuddly barn owl, was a particular favourite! Nick and his team were really good. They were knowledgeable, interesting, enthusiastic and funny. I would definitely recommend.

Awesome Experience.

Now here's the thing: We got left behind at the start. Thanks to a locked gate we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The day could have been ruined.

However, mistakes happen; it's what the staff do about it that matters. The staff pulled out all the stops to make up for it. We got special attention after the main group had left.

We learnt about & met some beautiful birds. The lads who look after them so obviously love them. We took a Harris Hawk for a walk through the woods.

I have some amazing photos & some amazing memories.
