Great way of getting around

We travelled to Riva and Limone by ferry - some are fast catamarans, others more elegant and slower. All great fun.

Take the boat to all places on the Lake. We went to Limone and Bardollino. Timetables available most places and all the boats we got were on time.

We used the ferries on Lake Garda a number of times over a week including those to Malcesine, Garda, Salo and Sirmione. It takes around 2 hours to get from Sirmione to Malcesine which is from one end of the lake to about three quarters up it. It takes about 25 minutes from Sirmione to Garda (where there is a... More

It costs 9Euro return from Limone and takes about 20 minutes each way. The town is pretty and well worth the visit as well as the cable car to catch to get into the mountains. You are rather packed together and the seats aren't exactly comfortable - but it is a good way to cross the lake. It runs every... More

This is really where it all happens in Malcesine. The Rough Guide to Italy slates Malcesine for not having decent places to eat, but the best - in my 25-years of going there, are within a two minute walk of the harbour. Kambusa I have reviewed elsewhere, but there are several more-directly lake-front ones - think water lapping under your... More

Quick easy and cheaper than the ferry. Available from two locations in Malcesine to Limone every hour.

The Ferries are a superb way of travelling around the lake to visit other towns or to catch up with the travelling markets which are a great way of shopping. Efficient service and always on time.

The ferries from Malcesine are a brilliant way to see some spectacular scenery while travelling to other interesting places. I have used the ferry to travel to Limone (about 30 mins with a great view of the castle when looking back at Malcesine) and Sirmione (about 2 hours). If you're travelling a long way on the ferry you might want... More
