Clouds in Italy look the same as cloud in England!
We fully enjoyed the 360 rotating cable car. We love mountains and hiking, and would have walked around more were it not for the fact that we had unfortunately timed it so we were in a cloud! We still had a fab time and would highly recommend, especially on a clear day. The views were still amazing in the car itself.

    Great views
I was sceptical at first based on reviews, it is expensive but felt worth it for the views and cable car is modern. Avoid 10-12 if you don’t want to queue. We bought tickets at the office as we had cash and only took 10mins, didn’t skip that much of the queue on the day we visited but maybe it’s worse in peak times. We didn’t mind too much, part of the experience. Second car rotates so worth trying to get near the windows. Views at the top were fantastic, lots of paragliders taking off which was nice to watch. Recommended good shoes trainers or walking shoes as rocky paths. Bar up the top with lots toilets and modern facilities. Avoided the lady selling alpaca merch as she came across a bit aggressive, watching your every move and not allowing any touching of the goods I personally wouldn’t buy material without being to check if it feels soft.

    The best experience
Amazing visit, wonderful views on a clear day and just one of the best experience. We took the left turn on arrival to the view point, about a 10/15min walk each way past the alpacas and cows with wonderful views. The cafe that why looks amazing but a lot more expensive than the Sky bar at the terminal which was excellent. We turned up without tickets at 0830 and had a discount voucher as staying in Malcesine, we walked straight to the ticket office with not a single person in front, it cost 23 euro each and went straight up. We returned around 11am, the queue was down the street to get in and even the prebooked was large, so get their early and you can enjoy less people.

BEWARE the outer Blue Fence!! but Enjoy!
We had a wonderful day with the entire family doing this. I had read the reviews about not going up during the 12-2pm time to avoid the crowds and that is what we did. However it was cloudy this day, with some rain in the area, so I don't know if this would have mattered this day. The lift was under half full and we spent from 3-6 up at the top. We had a great espresso and adult beverages at the cafe. We hiked the top of mountain and saw the alpacas. ***BEWARE avoid touching the BLUE fence as it is electrical. Several of us touched this accidentally because we thought for sure the electrical fence would be the inner fence, but No the outer fence is also electrical. Not a huge shock if you do touch it, but best to stay clear. The views up here are amazing, Even with the cloud covering us up for most of the afternoon, It cleared up long enough for us to see the amazing views. We also spent time at the play area at the Sky Walk cafe. The kids had a ball. Definitely worth doing this. Enjoy!

    Absolutely stupendous
My wife and I, along with our two early-20s kids, took the two gondolas up to Monte Baldo from Malcesine. I had purchased tickets online, and I had to scan our four ticket QR codes from my phone, twice on the way up, twice on the way down. Mildly annoying with a long queue of people behind us, but not too bad. We had asked at our hotel what the weather was likely to be, and the person recommended that we dress like an onion, with layers to handle any weather. I checked a couple of web sites for what the weather was likely to be, and they were all over the place, from 40°F to 70°F, so we brought layers, to handle cool weather, or rainy weather, or cool rainy weather. Of course, it was a beautiful sunny day over 70°F. Luckily we had also brought a bag that we crammed all our extra outwear into. Anyway, the views from the top are stunning. The various paths to other vantage points are easily walked, and lead to even more stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. We spent an hour or so just sitting in the beautiful meadow, sketching the view, sunning ourselves, and simply drinking in the natural beauty. We spent another hour walking along the ridge, enjoying watching the paragliders launch into the breeze. Out of all the places we visited on this trip, this is the spot we'd like to return to the most, simply to spend more time in the sun on Monte Baldo.

    Great experience...definitely worth it
We took a ferry from Garda. I precooked tickets online for 2.30 . Online the weather forecast said 70 per cent chance of rain. I was very wary of the cable car experience because of the negative reviews....however.... 1 There are clear signs at the very entrance for paid and prepaid tickets 2 There were no queues at all...very surprising 3 The forecast was totally wrong. 4 We went up and down with ease.. Yes you are in a confined cable car with many people but it is well managed and seemed efficient. Tip when booking online it tells you how many tickets are left for your time slot so you can work out the less busy time to go.

    Book online, go early!
I had previously been advised to book online & go early. Headed there at 0830, and was on a cable car by 0900. By the time I got back it was v crowded with long queues. Other top tips: pack a jumper & cagoule - it’s much colder & windier at the top. Avoid ‘La Cappanina’ - they charged 9 euros (!) for a slice of cake. Lovely walks - download the avenza maps app.

    Breathtaking views
Breathtaking views and outlook - well worth the slight delays in getting on the chairlifts - just be patent and you will be rewarded. Views to both the alps and the lake are gorgeous. One of our best days whilst staying at the lake. Word of warning - if you are staying south if the lake make sure you get in the ferry queues early for your return trip

Prepare to queue but it's worth it
Unfortunately there are only 2 cars (1 in each direction) on the 2 levels so the wait is long and the queues excessive. Make sure you book ticket's online as you save 2 euros pp and won't have to re queue once you've purchased them.on site. We noticed less people later in the afternoon so waiting may pay off. It is well worth it as the views of the Dolomites and the Lake are stunning. You'll never get better unless you go paragliding or fly over.

Ok, firstly the views from the Mountain are breathtaking. Absolutely amazing and this is a must for anyone visiting Lake Garda. 5 stars for the view and the cable car journey up.

Why only 2 stars then overall?

Getting into the cable car in the first place!

We turned up early, and there was a huge queue. First you need to buy a ticket. This can be done online or in the ticket office by the cable car station. Once you buy a ticket, you have a 30 minute time slot. So you then go and join this huge queue.

Now can anyone tell me how long it will take to get to the front of this queue? No. However, the company responsible seems to think you should know.

We had a time slot from 11:30am to 12:00 so we joined the long queue at about 10:45am. When we finally got to the front at 11:10, we were told we were too early and had to join the queue again at the back! You can be 10 minutes early, that is fine.

We held a reasonably polite conversation with a staff member there explaining that we were not happy being told we had to queue again, and there would be every likelihood that we would miss our time slot. However, he would have none of it, at one point even saying that if we did not rejoin the queue, he would annul our tickets! Charming man! We did manage to have a conversation with him long enough to enable us to remain, as our time slot started.

Not impressed with the organisation nor staff. It would not take much thought to arrange entrance on a much better basis. The company responsible also need to give their staff some lessons in dealing with customers.

Having said all that, once we calmed down and took the car up, our little battle to board seemed insignificant. It truly will take your breath away.

A sightseeing trip up Monte Baldo above Malcesine is a must. The cable car journey ascends the 5,774 ft in two stages, the second part has pods that revolve slowly affording fabulous views of Lake Garda and beyond.

There are hiking, paragliding and mountain biking opportunities but just a walk is amazing with breathtaking views and loads of photo opportunities.

It gets very busy so my tip is to book in advance (at the ticket office, through your hotel reception or online) to avoid some queuing. We also went up relatively early at 8.30 which beat most of the crowds that arrive in Malcesine on excursions.

An hour or so up there, with a comfort break and coffees was sufficient for us and we descended with only a few other people and could enjoy the views far better. The pods going up at around 10.30-11.00 looked crammed and there were long queues at the entrance.

You can, of course, choose to walk

A worthwhile experience.

Guide books advice of arriving early is absolutely correct!
Our 0930 voucher was advanced by the ticket office to 0915 and we duly caught an earlier gondola. The ascent is in two stages with 81 people ( includes attendant) every 10 minutes. The second gondola rotates through 360 degrees over the ascent so all get a good view. From the top , head off in either direction but by going left you will get dramatic views to the north of the Lago , to Laga Pra della Stua and be mesmerised by the skills of the hang gliders taking off over the lake.
Excellent way to spend 3 hours!

There is probably a good time to do this trip, but we missed it. Having bought tickets online “to avoid the queue “ we arrived about 11:00 am to find complete chaos. People were still able to buy tickets at the base station and seemingly they were sold to all comers, even though all the available slots had been bought by online purchasers. We had to queue for 2 hours! It then takes 30 minutes to ascend. When you get to the top the views are wonderful and ideally one would walk down. We only spent about 35mins at the top as we were very concerned that there would, later in the afternoon, be huge queues to get down.
All in all a very disappointing experience on a truly spectacular day.
Advice would be to go up very early or about 2 pm.

We were there early Sunday morning and NO queues. After what many had written, we were really worried. We didn't have to wait at all! We paid 25 euros per person for a return trip. The view from the top is really beautiful!
