Perfume, cosmetics & alcohol are cheap. Clothing was limited and I don't think was much cheaper. Lots of shops with clothing for cyclists. The village is spectacular with wooden houses and coloured flower boxes on balconies, if you are visiting nearby you must see Livigno.

What more can one say but it is one really big duty free shop in the middle of a beautiful valley. The air was crisp and clean. The number of people even for September seemed a lot, but I understand that in the winter there are even more. If you need something this maybe the place to buy it. People from Switzerland, Germany and Italy were here buying things. Things appeared to be about 30% less than normal, but there is no tax. Gas was about 30% less getting here is covered by the cost of gas. Looked it it would be a place to bring the kids skiing and there also appeared to be a lot of summer activities.

Livigno Sports have a few retail outlets in Livigno all owned by the same family. We chose the one next to Marco's Bar in the old town as it was opposite our hotel. Set in a basement it has no welcoming atmosphere and the staff seemed disinterested. We wanted to buy a rather expensive pair of ski boots which we couldn't find in any other store so we persisted. Actually the young guy who fitted them was ok but as no one else was serving anyone we only had half his attention which was annoying. As we were there we all hire advanced skies from them, four pairs in all. I was shocked at the price as I had just returned from Val d'Isere, probably the most expensive French ski resort, where I had hired new season advanced skis for €119 for the week. Livigno Sports wanted €135 for the week until I said we would go elsewhere, then they agreed to give us 10% discount on the skis only. We agreed as I assumed we wouldn't get them cheaper elsewhere, how wrong I was. Other friends we were with, who had been here before had negotiated a deal with another shop for a ski, boot and helmet package for advanced skis at only €60 for the week!
After the first day, my daughter who is recovering from an ankle injury which occurred several weeks ago, decided it was still to painful to ski on. We took her skis back to Livigno Sport and gave them back to the lady assistant explaining the problem. She readily took the skis back but when I asked for a refund she just pointed at a small notice on her desk and stated 'we have a rule - no refunds!' When I protested she said if we had a letter from the hospital she might be able to do something. As it was an old injury I explained that we didn't have a letter and weren't planning on going to hospital as it wasn't necessary. The lady very rudely said 'then there is nothing we can do, we have a rule!' As we had spent in the region of €800 in her shop I did expect a little consideration but obviously not. I was surprised at her nasty attitude and if I hadn't already paid in advance, something you don't do in Val D'isere, I would have refused to pay.
All our other experiences in Livigno were great, it is a shame that the greed of one family owned store can colour our experience so badly.
AVOID LIVIGNO SPORT AT ALL COSTS!

A holiday in Livigno was an extraordinary experience for me. I have been to the mountains before but nothing prepared me for The Alps surrounding Livigno. I was there at the end of August/beginning of September. The village itself is in a valley high up in the mountains with a beautiful artificial lake at one end. Livigno is famous for skiing and winter sports but in summer it is also full of activities. Besides the greenery and fresh mountain air, there are cable cars to take you up to the top of different mountains to enjoy the views of the valley below. It’s a duty free village so if you like shopping there is a variety of shops to choose from. One can go hiking, biking, horse riding, going on the lake in a boat and clubs in the evening. Then there are the nearby countries of Austria and Switzerland and also beautiful small villages in the north of Italy which can be easily reached and visited in a day. There are many hotels to choose from and a lot of restaurants. Our hotel Victoria was very good, clean and the service was excellent. Breakfast was delicious and abundant. But what left an everlasting impression on me were the Passes through the mountains.
Going to Bormio from Livigno we took the Foscagno Pass. Although Livigno is surrounded by mountains which are already impressive, going through the high mountain Pass was an experience which I will not easily forget! Getting in and out of the clouds, going up and down the hairpin bends with the mountains suddenly looming and towering above you or looking down seemingly endless chasms, it was an awesome experience. The grandeur of the mountains, some with craggy faces, and others covered in a green velvet carpet or in endless fir and pine forests leave you breathless. The diversity is staggering, steep, narrow wild valleys, others gently sloping with picturesque houses dotted along the valley or perched high up the mountain sides. The scenic views keep changing and when you think that it’s impossible to get better you have to bow your head and admit that Nature never finishes astounding us with its marvellous beauty!
Another Pass, this time the Fluela Pass still in The Alps from Livigno to Davos in Switzerland, different mountains, different scenery. At first the mountains are covered in pine and fir forests up to the summit, but as you reach the middle of the Pass they become bare, rocky or covered in black mud. An extraordinary experience which was a first for me and an added bonus was snow. It started falling softly in the early morning and we woke up with a dusting like icing sugar on a cake, on the mountain peaks. But as we got on the Fluela Pass high up in the mountains it started snowing in earnest and by the time we were at the highest stretch of the Pass everywhere was covered in snow. The scenery was out of this world! From black suddenly all the mountains in sight were white. I thought I had seen everything the day before but again I was enthralled by the magic Nature can conjure out of nothing!

In Livigno there aren't the fees of the Italian State, because there're many shops. The best shops are those sports. The country is still nice for a ride. If you want to shop cheaper recommend buying: perfumes, alcohol in bottle, cigarettes (maximum 10 packages per person).

I don't even know where to start. Alcohol is insanely cheap so is everything else since it's tax free. Bottle of 3l of Smirnoff vodka is 15e. Cosmetics, jewelry, designer clothes you can find it all in Livigno. The only bad thing is that you have a limit of what you can buy and take away from Livigno. And the working hour are quite weird since all the shops close around 7 or 8pm. So if you stay on the slopes until 5pm you have a very limited time for shopping.

Shop, eat, ski, visit spa or go to cinema, all in one place, set at 75 hundred feet in a wide valley above Valtellina in Lombardy close to Swiss border. The recipe of success, high fashion shopping amidst the Alpine scenery at fairly high altitude and fairly low prices, is unbeatable and uncommon yet obviously attractive, and may be enough to get it on to your must-see list, especially if you are a lover of good food and wine.

This small, very lively ski village is busy all year round due to its duty free Shops. You find a huge selection of cosmetic products, as well as sunglasses, sportgear, and also some boutiques. You can take advance and make a day of it if you aren't staying in the villa. There are countless Restaurants and bars, many offering a seleccion of fingerfood if you go for drinks from 18 hs on. Not sure if this is only on weekend and summer, as it was the case when I was there.
