This is an incredibly gorgeous looking piazza which we were lucky enough to be staying literally two minutes' walk from, meaning that we saw it at various times of the day - each different light brought out different aspects of the buildings' beauty. The base of the bell tower was behind hoardings when we visited (early April 2022) but otherwise everything was easily seen.
This is also the place to buy tickets for the main baroque churches, seminary and sacred art museum (definitely worth the 9 Euros for the combined ticket).

This is your staring point for your Lecce visit. Here, at the tourist center, you can buy the ticket for visit of the baroque churches and the Seminary Palace and Diocesan Museum. During day pretty busy while at night I found it relaxing and peaceful as just few people came here to enjoyed lit palace and the Cathedral (Dumo).

Wherever you look there is some landmark in terms of archtecture. It is a bit different because The Chiesa is not the main element here. Normally the churches rule the place and get the focus of a spot like this but the whole place is a mix of huge elements. The tower, for example has three levels looking like a castle top. Once they are a continuous building it will look even bigger when you step here. Even crowded there is room for good pictures. Nice experience.

The Puglia region is a wonderful place, Salento in magic, the most important city is Lecce. Tipical Barocco Salentino.

This spacious square, leading to the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, is completely closed on three sides and has only one access from the northern side.
The church is in the southeastern corner of the square, the lavishly decorated side entrance on the northern wall is effectively the main entrance.
The Campanile was built in 1661 by Giuseppe Zimbalo, the architect of the Baroque cathedral. It has five levels, surmounted on top of each other.
Opposite the bell tower, the Palace of the Seminary with the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art is located in the western part of the square, Next to it is the Institute of Religious Sciences and the Episcopio, the palace of the Archbishop of Lecce.
It was charming for us to be there before and after we visited the cathedral.

I have heard it is better than Firenze. Not really true. One of many towns, you may see in Italy almost anywhere. Nothing spectacular.

Stand in the center of the piazza and turn 360 to take in the Baroque architecture. This is a piece of history to enjoy. The outside is as beautiful as it is inside. Return after sunset to see it once again lite up after dark..

The Piazza was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season - I traveled there in December 2019. At night, the lights were especially beautiful.

Thank you, we found great parking just by the Porta Napoli on Via Adua, few minutes from Centro Storico.
