I wondered, when I signed up for the Umbria tour with Espressino Tours, whether it would live up to the tour of Puglia that I took with them two years ago. I needn't have wondered at all - it was really no surprise that Robert and Lili did not disappoint. They expertly and seemingly effortlessly guided us through some amazing cultural sites of the area, providing a local history and art expert who helped us delve even more deeply into the most significant of these. Once again, Robert and Lili have made many warm connections with local chefs who plied us with delicious food and wine, whether in their homes or in their restaurants. The cooking classes were lots of fun. It was truly eye-opening to see how one chef prepares amazing meals in the smallest of kitchens, and we will not soon forget how privileged we felt to be welcomed into the lovely home of another. Cheering on our favourites at a medieval drum festival competition, truffle hunting in the magnificent hills around Pettino, plus several delightful surprise activities (which I am not going to give away) rounded out our week. I can now say unreservedly that I have had two "trips of a lifetime."

We shared this trip with 10 other friends. I would call it an experience as opposed to a tour. Lili and Robert of Expressino Travel effortlessly (it seemed to us) and gracefully led us through day after day of food, culture and cooking. They have a wonderful relationship with the people of the region which allowed us a very personal experience. After a day or two Lili and Robert were just one of us - except they worked harder. Our accommodations at the Mantatelure were outstanding. Cooking with Gianna Greco and making pizza with Maurizio were highlights for me - as well as the sailing adventure out of Monopoli. Masseria Brancati olive trees and picnic alfresco lunch and the farm to table feast and tour of Masseria Le Stanzie were fabulous. Every event was personal and lovingly offered. Truly the best vacation Emil and I have ever experienced. Lecce is a beautiful town and we could very easily spend more time there. Thanks Lili and Robert and Espression Travel.

Our group of 12 had a fantastic time on this tour. This tour was all about the culture, food and fabulous people of the Salento region of Italy. Lili and Robert with Espressino Travel shared their unbelievable knowledge and experiences of Puglia with us each and every day! There was a surprise around every corner and every day exceeded our expectations with a new adventure! The highlight of the trip was meeting and spending time with local influences such as Gianna at Lecce's cooking experience and Maurizio who taught us to make real Italian Pizza! Everyday, we ventured out to a new location to meet special people, hear about Italian history and culture and eat amazing food. From the amazing Olive Tress at Masseria Brancati to great wine at Castello Monaci to our sailing excursion on the Adriatic Sea and the farm to table feast at Masseria Le Stanzie, the trip was an unforgettable week in Italy with our good friends!

We strongly recommend Espressino Travel whether it be for this amazing week long Puglia culinary tour or day tours within the Salento region. You will be pampered, and all your travel needs will be looked after by this professional team. OUR EXPERIENCE: We were making plans to fulfill one of our Bucket List items; listening to Andrea Bocelli in Taormina at the Ancient Greek Theatre, when we came upon Espressino Travel’s ad for a “unique, boutique culinary holidays in Italy”. Having no plans after our week in Calabria, we decided to contact them as we had not traveled to Puglia before. Right from the initial contact we made with Robert we knew he was professional, efficient and meticulous with a sprinkle of wit. He promptly replied to all our many inquiries and booked us for the September 2019 tour. We arrived in Lecce a day early and expected to fumble around on our own until the following day. This was not to be the case, Robert met us at our luxurious accommodations, The Mantatelurè, and made sure we were all checked in prior to escorting us to a safe place to park our rented car for the week. He then walked us around the neighbourhood with a stop for one of the best Aperol in Lecce before giving us several suggestions for dinner. The following day we met our fellow travellers for a meet and greet where they presented us with our very own personalize aprons – I love my apron! This tour is so personable that they took the time to acknowledge and celebrate two birthdays (which one of them was mine) and an anniversary of their guests. The tour itself was magical as we traveled from coast to coast visiting farms, olive mills, vineyards, historic towns, cathedrals, churches, beaches and many other unforgettable sites. It is seven days of total immersion into Puglia’s culture and food with the Espressino Travel’s team at the helm …. and a few surprises along the way. It was an amazing week, where 12 people were brought together by Robert and Lilli and all saw the same sites but were made to feel that they were special and that the tour was designed for them, in some cases they accommodated the individual pace of the traveler never leaving anyone behind or out. What becomes obvious is Robert’s and Lilli’s passion for Puglia and the friendships, relationships and acceptance they have in this region. Their team made us feel that we were part of an extended happy Italian family. Mantatelurè, is an exclusive beautiful guest house where the staff are very pleasant and accommodating – how very true is their motto …. “You come as guests and leave as friends” we can also say that regarding the Espressino Travel team and the new friends we met on this amazing Puglian voyage. Food, well you are in Italy where good food is expected, great to fantastic food is what we experienced on this tour. Every day was a new and fantastic food experience with many coffee and gelato stops. Never having to pay out of pocket! The cooking portion of the tour with Gianna and Maurizio is truly a foodie’s dream come true: Gianna of Cooking Experience is one of the most effervescent, vibrant and energic person you will ever meet, her passion for food and sharing that knowledge and love is remarkable. Maurizio of Pizza Co. what can you say about his enthusiasm for his profession, other than the finished product shows the heartfelt dedication he puts into every pizza. After you sit down to a beautifully set table or the steps of the church and enjoy what you have created with copious amounts of great wine from the region. Our week with Espressino Travel was full of wonderful adventures and exceeded our expectations. Robert and Lili were warm, attentive hosts whose love of the Pulia’s Salento region, it’s people and cuisine shown through in all of the carefully curated experiences they shared with us. The “surprises” they sprinkled throughout the week were a delight. Montatalure in Lecce made a great home base. Wish we could have stayed longer.
