What a great way to spend a half day....trip to the market to buy the ingredients and a little history tour on the way. Learning how to make pasta and use fresh local ingredients to make a scrummy lunch tipped off by eating it and drinking some lovely wine. The team were great, very informative and willing to lend a... More

I recently participated in a glorious week of cooking and cycling in the Puglia region, at the Awaiting Table cookery school. The classes were held in a castle and we cooked fresh pasta, which we made nightly (something I had never done before) with the expert instruction of Silvestro, as well as delicious vegetable and meat and fish dishes. I... More

I don't consider myself much of a cook. While I do most of the cooking at home, I'm generally good at identifying tasty recipes and following instructions. I never imagined myself wanting to take an extended cooking class. One day would be OK for me, I thought. Less even better. But, now I'm ready to go for more. Way more.... More

This was a surprise for my wife for our honeymoon and it could not have gone better!! Silvestro, Desi, Paula and the rest of the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. And we found that we both learned a ton! I saw some other reviews here that people were complaining that they "didn't get to do enough cooking" and I... More

A truly wonderful day with excellent hosts and fellow students. Out of a 6 week trip around Italy, this was definitely my highlight (a difficult thing for others to believe, but not difficult for me to pick). Silvestro and his team arrange a flawless day to experience the flavours of Puglia; from visiting the market and buying today's produce, making... More

Sylvestro and his team are excellent...very aware of the types of information we would like as visitors to the region, covered wine, olive oil, and food culture of the area very thoroughly. Great to shop at the market, cook then eat together both lunch and dinner. Also good to note that the mix of people attending was truly international and... More

It was almost 2 years from the first time The Awaiting Table Cookery School caught my attention until I was finally able to arrive in Lecce (with my best friend in tow!) As you can imagine, my both my excitement and expectations were pretty high...! From the first evening, during which we had a delicious welcome dinner prepared for us... More

In June 2016 we did a 1 day class to cook and eat lunch and dinner (200.- EUR per person) - Unless other cooking classes i have done in other countries we did all do different tasks (except the pasta making which we all did the same). So many of the interesting steps of the cooking is done only by... More

Thank you for your feedback. It is hard to get it right every time- the amount and content that each student wants to cook and learn. As the weather starts to warm we try to teach more history and theory, in the cool of the dining room with a glass of wine in hand. It sounds like we missed hitting... More

Silvestro and his whole crew were fun, informative and the resulting food was delicious. Never has "school" been this enjoyable. You can tell that everyone involved really enjoys sharing their knowledge and enjoying the camaraderie that develops. From the tour of the marketplace and description of local meats/ fish , pasta, grains and vegetables to the kitchen and finally to... More

What a pleasure to have you with us! And we love that you posted on Facebook for the new recipes you have been cooking at home. Keep an eye out for the wines of the Salento at home as well. The pinks and reds are always great finds. We hope to have you back! More

My daughter and I had great hands on experience with Silvestro's cooking class. We have receipes that we can replicate back home. The experience was so good that we speak about various aspects as we continue our travels. The website is also another follow up means of keeping in touch. Everything had been planned and no request was too much... More

It was a pleasure to have you two with us, especially as you know southern Italy so well, being from just one region over. Are you drinking your Cirò back at home? We are! Some to see you both again very soon. More
