This is a living museum of history over 2000 years ago. A former convent that was excavated by accident and revealed the experiences of the nuns who lived here, how they dealt with danger from invaders, and the amazing story of how they protected their...More

We spent a long time at this "museum", which is actually an archeological excavation beneath what was a private residence and which was discovered only when the owner needed to have the floor replaced. The site shows evidence of daily life there going back at...More

Well worth visiting. A house that started off being 'accidentally' excavated revealing thousands of years of history. One of the sons showed us some of the latest excavations and answered our questions, highly recommended.

This is a must-see in Lecce, and in the entire Puglia! There is so much history one can learn and experience being in the subterranean level of this house. The experience transported time and space for me. Highly recommend it!

This is a not-to-be-missed attraction in Lecce. It is both intriguing and interesting. A real labour of love and fascinating look into city life over 1000s of years. It's been done with complete sympathy and is not at all touristy. Do not miss this!
