“UNMOUNTED STATUE”

This monument to the first King of a unified Italy is located in the eponymous piazza a short distance from Piazza Sant’Oronzo. From the plinth a stone pedestal is topped with a statue of VEII standing with a grounded sword in his left hand, his right hand on his hip and right foot forward of his left. Not sure of the symbolism of these positions. Also one of the few non-equestrian monuments to VEII.
