Went to mass here on the sunday and thought it was a nice but not exceptional church with some unusual iron work.

However we subsequently went to the Magma museum (less than 5 mins walk away) which explains not only the story of Iron in Follonica but also the role of the church in the local foundary and vice versa. This helped us much better understand the skills and craftsmanship involved in the church. We went back to the chiesa and it really brought it all to life.

So we would recommend that if you can go to Magma first you will get even more out of your visit to St Leopold.

San Leopoldo is a unique tribute to the wrought iron industry which put Follonica on the map in the 19th and 29th centuries. It is located right across the street from the excellent MAGMA museum which documents the industry's history with its Eturscan roots.

This tiny little church is a unique piece made out of cast iron. Its little porch at the entrance made out of corithian columns is absolutely fantastic. If u are passionate of architercture u must go there :)
