About

There were happy kids running around this square. Sights like these are rare now a days, but it is here in this safe place.

We walked through the square on both Saturday and Sunday and both days the square was full of stands. Saturday markets were food items, clothing, jewellry and hand crafted items and Sunday was antiques and collectibles. Both markets were well attended by both residents and tourists.

The Piazza is where all of Fano walks to during passigiata. At Christmas a large tree is erected and on Saturdays the market takes up the whole square/ Highlights are the fountain and the opera house.

The fountain seems huge from the photos but is smaller in reality, When I was there the square was full of people in the evening and the atmosphere was very good

Almost from this vantage point there is a little church dating back to the building of the city. During mid day the local close up shop for lunch but early evening the espresso is flowing and the wine delicious.

The heart of the old town. Filled with a market on Wednesday and Saturday. A great place to sit with a coffee and people watch every day. In the evening it is full of outdoor restaurants. Always lively

This is a lovely square to visit in Fano, lovely when the markets are on, with plenty of places to eat and drink, and have a sit down. Well worth a visit.

We spent a great time here as the sun was setting drinking Aperol Spritz & Prosecco with lots of tasty snacks just watching the locals including lots of children walking and playing in the Piazza - a great end to 3 lovely days in Fano.

Every time we visit Fano we always end up in the square, we have come to call it the 'Square of the Children' because every time we sit with friends there is everyone's children running, playing, laughing in a safe and friendly place. We love you Fano.

The fountain is not surprising at all, but downtown area is nice for a walk. There are shops and different options for cafes, restaurants and Gelato.
