About
The MIC offers a complete vision of the ceramic cultures belonging to any age and place; pieces from the Far and Middle East, from South America and all Europe allow the visitors to have a unique experience. It was founded in 1908 and now it preserves more than 60.000 ceramics, from antiquity to nowadays, all housed in great and suggestive architectural spaces. Ceramic masterpieces from the Renaissance, works by Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Leger, Burri, Fontana and other innumerable examples of excellence, make the MIC a unique museum in the world.

Beautiful Ceramics
Oct 2019
Our guided tour through this museum started with the earliest pieces mostly with one color, then moved to ones with more colors and details. Our guide was excellent giving us the stories about how each era added new ways to create ceramic pieces all the way to modern times. This was worth the time to see.

A very pleasant stroll
Sep 2019
As there were very few visitors we were able to stroll at our leisure and enjoy the wide variety of ceramics on display. The explanatory notes were very informative.

Great!
Aug 2019
One of the best museums what we have seen worldwide. Besides the fact that you can learn a lot about porcelain, fajance, ceramics there are wonderful pieces from all over the world. Not only old ceramics but moder ones too - i.e. Picasso was producing some marvellous pieces for the museum. Very well organised and displayed.

Educational for an older mind
Aug 2019
We were recommended this museum by a friend who live locally. Now, we are heathens so some of it was a case of us standing there and saying 'Do you get it?" or 'I could do that". Overall though, it was a good experience as it exercised our minds.

Fascinating Museum For All Ages
Jun 2019 • Solo
This museum is by far the best of its kind that I have ever visited in my travels worldwide. It is huge and spread over several stories. It encompasses sections including many countries eg China, Japan, Mexico and more (loads of ancient tools, clothing, masks as well as clay artifacts) etc and then European ceramics and another section dedicated to only Italian ceramics - my absolute favourite. There is also a section on modern ceramics if that is your preference. The entire collection is breathtaking and suitable for all ages, in fact there were schoolchildren visiting that morning. If you are a ceramics enthusiast like I am do not despair if lunchtime is approaching, you can pop out to eat and return to continue browsing using the same entrance ticket. Genius! I took a train from Bologna to Faenza specifically to see this museum and would definitely recommend, in fact I would love to re-visit!

Great and interesting collection. Don't miss this if you are in Faenza or nearby. We did not have enough time to see all of it!

Magnificent!
Sep 2018 • Couples
This wonderful museum delivered far more than we imagined. It is beautifully laid out and visually splendid - for us, without much knowledge of ceramics, it was still very evident what an important collection this is. The building itself is also amazing and delivers wonderful light plays and textural changes as you move between the older and newer sections. We were there for 2 hours but you could easily spend a lot longer.

Extremely interesting, but you must have a lot of time available
Sep 2018
You'll see the ancient ceramics, some with surprisingly modern decor, as well as some 20th cent pieces by renowned makers, all very well presented.

Visit during the Biennale
Aug 2018 • Couples
Second time we’ve been here during the Biennale. Lovely specialist museum with a great collection of ceramics. This plus the temporary show made an interesting and thought provoking visit. Easy parking opposite and a great little cafe too. Thoroughly recommend specially if you like ceramics ancient and modern.
