Whilst a tough 55kms and 4 mountain passes if you take your time the course is doable for any fit cyclist with a reasonable level of fitness. Don't be mislead, it is a tough day in the saddle, but the views and the experience fo doing one fo the great cycling routes is worth the effort.

Went in mid-February. Weather was great. The views are spectacular. Corvara is simply magical, can see why so many movies were filmed in this location.

The Sella Ronda cycle route encompasses the 4 famous moutain passes in the eastern Italian Dolomites - the Passo Pardoi, Passo Campolongo, Passo Gardenia & Passo Sella. If you only ever do one ride in the Italian Alps in your lifetime, this MUST be the one.
The scenery is absoultely fantastic, and with the correct climbing gearing and bicycles, the ride easily achievable for even novices. An absolute must to ride in a cyclist's lifetime...

This is an excellent day’s skiing. You can go anti clockwise which is more lifts and very easy or clockwise less lifts and a little harder, more reds. It takes in each case 3 hours in good conditions but it would be much better to take in the separate areas one or two on your way round and make a day of it. It's not difficult skiing in good conditions so nothing to worry about. There are numerous restaurants on the way round to choose from. the view from the cable car summits (there are two) are fantastic and with the short walk to reach one of them. You can ski straight off when you come back down back to the main slopes.

A classic, though not in the same league as the Vallee Blanche (Courmayeur to Chamonix). We chose the anti-clockwise circuit, a fortunate decision as, mid-morning, the clockwise route was closed for a few hours, owing to a technical fault on a telecabin. With a few exceptions, the route is well-marked, orange signs for clockwise, green for anti-clockwise. Although it's not particularly strenuous, you'll probably need to allow a full day. An early start is recommended in order to beat the lift-queues, though hold-ups are inevitable, especially at Selva. In short, I thoroughly recommend Selva Ronda for skiers of intermediate ability.

Caroline could hear Doug yelling something at her from the top of the next hill. What was it she wondered? Check out the Cows on the right? Wow you are so fast on your E-bike, what style! 2 seconds later, torn and twisted at the bottom of a drainage ditch, she realized he had been yelling “STOP! You are headed at speed towards an obstacles your mountain biking skills are no match for!” Oh well, the minor wounds would heal, a couple of Advils would clear up the shoulder ache, and the helmet had done its job.

The day had been going so well, starting with the most intelligent rental of a Specialized Turbo Kenevo Expert 6Fattie 2018, a full suspension electric mountain bike, and the only way she had any hope of accompanying the others on today’s tour of the Sellaronda near Corvara, Italy. In the summer, 7 lifts allow bikers access to a 58 km bike tour around the Sella group, crossing the 4 Dolomite mountain passes of Gardena, Campolongo, Pordoi and Sella. In the winter, dozens of gondolas and lifts allow skiers to follow the same route, minus the uphill stretches. Ah yes, those lovely uphill stretches, Caroline reminisced, slowly heaving herself out of the ditch and back onto the trail. How satisfying, how novel it had been to look back and see Doug, Greg, Rob, Glenn and Val huffing and straining up the hills, even if the total elevation gain had “only” been 725 meters (an extra 400 the result of a closed lift)

The downhill bits, all 4,000 meters of them, had not been improved by the rental of the fattie. “Descents require agility and experience” one brochure had warned. Another stated, “The tour requires average fitness and great determination”. Two out of 4 had been good enough to get her on this trail, Caroline remembered, and great determination would get her out of it. That and her daily tagliatelle with deer sauce, consumed at the utterly gorgeous Refugio Luigi Gorza, at the top of the Rodela Chairlift.

Touring around this beautiful part of the Italian Alps in the Dolomites was unforgettable. The cycling was steep up and down and the views from the top of each pass, stunning. The restaurants were a respite from our bikes and provided much needed fuel and coffee for each leg of our ride. Bring a wind breaker for downhill if one is cycling and be careful of the downhill descents, possible gravel or debris and be mindful of motorbikes and car traffic. Best to slow down ‘a lot’ before going around hairpin turns and make sure to stay on your side of the road. Safety first however, enjoy this beautiful experience.

Experience to be done at least once in a lifetime. Pedaling together with thousands of people, without car traffic, in a Dolomite scenery, repays you for the effort. Four passes are not a joke with racing bikes, but you can do it with some training.
