Monica did not speak English so she spoke in Italian and her daughter translated, they were such amazing hosts. The tour of the cellars unfolded the fascinating history about the family and the production of their wine. The cellar itself was a wonderful piece of history and architecture, the explanation of the types of wood used for the barrels, their storage the use of mould on the wood- yes mould!! was very interesting. The tour concluded in a tasting of 3 wines which Monica and her daughter explained the characteristics and answered any questions we had about them. Well worth a visit !!

Mr. Fabio Cenni and his wife are very friendly hosts, they told us a lot about the Etruscans, that they were the most advanced civilization in the world and in fact they were likely “civilized” by the ancient Greeks themselves. Perhaps, even more importantly though, the Romans adopted the Etruscans practices of wine production and trade. Much of what allowed the Romans and other early Europeans to experience such success as an empire is due to what they learned from the Etruscans. In particular, trading for profit was an important aspect of ancient Etruscans culture and often times this trade was in wine. Also Etruscan discovered for French populations wine production. Now I know that the ancient Etruscans lured the Gauls into the Mediterranean wine culture by importing wine into southern France. Also I discovered that the meaning of the word "Symposium " in ancient Greece was a drinking party. The equivalent in of "Symposium " in Roman society is the Latin convivium. In modern usage it has come to mean an academic conference or meeting such as a scientific conference, however, one major difference is that women of status participated more fully in this as in other realms of Etruscan society. That means that women were equal in rights with men in that period, which was different at Roman and Greek societies. A big discovering for me was amazing taste of Sangiovese grapes and his notes at tasting, which are like a melody of the seasons of the nature. We tasted POGGIO AI CHIARI 2006 and POGGIO AI CHIARI 2007 and Rose KERNOS, I was amazed...the same grapes, the same technology but totally different tastes... Thanks very much to our hosts, Mr. Fabio Cenni and his amazing wife...it was one of the best wine tasting in my life...
