Not the Museum itself, but the guided tour through the series of tunnels with a large collection of Etruscan sarcophagi.

Excellent tour with very good bilingual guide. The tour starts about ground and then goes underground, some stairs. Well worth making the effort to find

One of the best archeological places to visit in Chiusi
Jul 2016 • Couples
A fascinating trip in the underground etruscan and medieval old Chiusi. A well maintained path among antiques makes the visitor come back to very old times. The young lady who guided us was friendly and explained the history of Chiusi since the Etruscan era.

Fascinating underground
Sep 2015 • Friends
Discover how deep underground, below the piazza in Chiusi there are narrow passages, canals, a huge water tank, mostly built after the Etruscans died out, but still fascinating.
Bring a torch and suitable shoes (some paths may be quite wet).

Interesting tour

This is a little tricky to find as the entrance to the underground bit sends you off somewhere else, but eventually we found it and had a great time. The museum itself is a little dull and obviously aimed at school kids, but for 4 euros each we got entry to this and a good 30 minutes tour of the underground city for the two of us.

Now I will warn you that you may need to check the language the tour will be in - the lady who showed us round was very knowledgeable and knew everything about the history and construction of the tunnels - but she was not confident with her English (which actually was very good) and conducted the whole tour in Italian. Luckily I speak reasonably good Italian and could understand most of it and translate for my wife, but you may want to check the tour will be in English if you don't speak the language. Also we could have done with a little longer to take photos and read some of the labels on the exhibits. But this is only a minor complaint, and the fascinating history of this place and the enthusiasm of our guide, made for a memorable trip.

Fantastic underground view of Chiusi and Etruscan history
May 2014
We visited Chiusi today and went to find the underground museum. You have to go at set times for a tour. We were a bit early so went for a coffee at the excellent vaticano and came back at the right time to find a dozen Italians. The lovely lady your guide said it was ok to go and would do the tour in a little bit Italian and a little bit English. She was brilliant as was the vies of the cistern and the Etruscan artefacts. Lasted about one hour and for 4 euros is the best bargain ever. Recommend.

We have been to the underground city of Chiusi, this is amazing to walk in the long and cool caves
and to feel the atmosphere of going back in time few thousands years back.
You can read the Etruscan scripts on the tombs were they deposited the rests of the cremated bodies, the most common name for women was Tania and for men Alpo, the guide will make for you a nice tour in English or Italian and it cost only 4 euro a person. We shall recommend this place to our guests.

Interesting Museum, adorable city!

Very inexpensive and interesting. MY husband and I stopped in Chiusi on our way to our hotel in another part of Tuscany. This was a very cute town and beautiful to walk around. We stumbled upon this museum and for 2 euros was given a private tour of the underground museum. Informative, but not worth a separate trip to the city.
