After a tiring but scenic and exhilarating walk from Chiareggio, it was a relief to round the corner and catch sight of the refuge. It is 1,965 metres above sea level and has the most amazing views of the surrounding mountains and glacier. The refuge itself is charming and since it was a lovely sunny day, we sat in the outdoor restaurant and had a wonderful lunch of local dishes. They also have very good coffee. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a great day.

Rifugio that is located on top of a beautiful trek in the woods of about an hour starting from Chiareggio. You arrive up in Alpe Ventina and it seems to be in an earthly paradise. We ate here 2 times and the food is great and plentiful. Waiters and owner very kind. We will return

I wanted to have a plate of sciatt as I do in every shelter, but I had the bitter surprise of finding them at 16€ instead of the usual 8-9.

We always had a good time except July 20.
Cai Hut, no fees displayed.
Bad lunch, very long service, very distracted and confusing stellar cost

I was in this refuge together with 4 other people on Thursday 08/31/2023.
The managers of the refuge were extremely kind.
Two people in the group arrived quite late compared to what was agreed (busy on a via ferrata) and, not seeing them arrive at the agreed time, we became a little worried. The managers of the refuge were very helpful, giving us information on the real timing of the excursion and reassuring us.
The food was truly excellent, served calmly and courteously, without that rush that makes one perceive "the sooner you finish and leave, the better".
Very adequate prices for a refuge (1 cutting board, 3 pizzoccheri, 1l of water, 2 coffees, 1 barley, 2 bitters - €54.00).
The other two members of the group, despite arriving at 3.30pm, were able to have lunch with a nice plate of pizzoccheri... and we had a small early snack with a nice slice of cake and a cup of tea.
The chat we had with the manager of the refuge was very pleasant and made us better understand some aspects of this "profession" which in the common imagination has a lot of romance but which hides quite a few sacrifices.
Should I return I will definitely stop... and that doesn't mean I won't decide to stay overnight too.

Giuseppe was really good. The Porro refuge is increasingly beautiful, welcoming, functional, open. Having opened the magnificent stua room, opened and made the heart of the refuge brighter with a minimal and intelligent intervention: (who is the designer?) in short, excellent cuisine, excellent hospitality, a magnificent valley

Refuge reachable from Chiareggio with an easy and short walk. Staff made up of dynamic, cheerful and kind young people. We have tried the cuisine several times and have always had a great time, especially due to the excellent quality of the products. In our opinion it is the best solution in the area.

Fantastic experience with family with children. Beautiful, super organized refuge, the rooms equipped with every comfort, excellent cleanliness of the bathrooms. Helpful and friendly staff. Super recommended experience!
