Less expensive than the other ferries, and with scheduled cruises that better accommodate a single day visit to Elba if your journey is originating inland (we were at Volterra at a villa for a week 90 minutes away). Orderly and competent operator, the ferry going to the island was 10 minutes late departing, aside from that flawless.

Didn't know what to expect of the tour but we had expected a greater experience. Long boat ride, about 2 - 2,5 hour, to the first island Giannutri, picked up passengers in a another harbour on the way. We did the mistake of not ordering food onboard the ship, we thougt that there would be an restaurant on Giannutri, there wasn't. A small shop on the other side of the island where you could buy a sandwich (not a good one) and icecrean and something to drink was the only choice. (Maybe we missed a restaurant but I don't think so) So, order food on the boat or bring your own. We stayed on the island for two hours. Nice swim but thats about all Giannutri had to offer. Then boat for one hour to Island Giglio, stopped in beutiful little town with a lot of restaurants and shops. You can take a swim right next to the harbour, very nice! Stayed on Giglio for almost three hours and then back "home" again. It was an italian guide/entertainer onboard. He talked during most of the trip. Probably good and funny if you talk italian. For us who didn't it was kind of irritating. The only information in english during the trip was the time to get back on the ship. For full value for the money I guess its best to speak italian. It was an ok trip, no more, no less.

After travelling more than 3 weeks in Italy, this is the only disappointing experience we have had. We booked our cruise to the islands of Giglio and Giannutri with Blue Navy. 2 days before departure, they called us at 10pm (yes 10 pm), to let us know there will be no boat on that day, but would be one 2 days later. We accepted and highlighted this was our last chance to do the cruise as we would be leaving Talamone 2 days after that rescheduled cruise day. The day before the rescheduled cruise day, at 7pm, we get a call that there is a boat but for some uncleared reason, we will have to board at Castiglione del pescaio, 50 min drive from talamone, which would make it very inconvenient and an early start with our 2 kids. We declined the cruise and luckily, I got on the phone straight away with the competitor Ulisse, and managed to get the 4 of us on a boat the next day, which was our last chance to do the day trip to the islands. What the hell is wrong with that company?
