In the heart of the town, in a beautiful, historical square, here you will find the marvellous "Masini's Fountain".

The fountain is reach in details and symbols; fortunately, also very well maintained and is an example of Italian virtuosity in arts.

All around the fountain, the "Piazza del Popolo", a square with an irregular shape surrounded by arcades, offers some of the most interesting town sights.
On the southern side of the square there stands the Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall). Next to the Palazzo Comunale there are Loggetta Veneziana and Rocchetta di Piazza, built in the 15th century.

This is the perfect environment to have a walk and admire the down town of this town, reach in history and interesting details to be discovered (from the Castle called "Rocca Malatestiana", overlooking the town, to the "Malatestiana Library" built by near the castle and considered a fine example of a Renaissance library and holding many valuable manuscripts).

If you are not very interested in the historical aspects of this town, here is possible to have dinner or just an ice cream admiring the buildings around.

Cesena has been for long periods part of the Papal States, and the fontain reminds it; in the 18th and 19th centuries Pope Pius VI and Pope Pius VII were born in the city, which also had Pope Pius VIII as bishop, gaining the title of "city of the three popes".

Also important to know that during World War II Cesena was near the Gothic Line, which ran along the Appennini near the city, and suffered heavily from bombing.

If you are close to Cesena don't miss to go to see Fontana Masini. You can find in the historical center surrended by restaurants and bars.

Fontana Masini sits in Piazza del Popolo, Cesena's city centre.
It's a nice square, with Rocca Malatestiana it's other attraction, worth a visit if you're around.

It is a pretty place but there is not a lot to see. The kids were enojying getting wet because it was a very hot day.

the workmanship,so delicate the carving,at night when it's lit up it gives Piazza del Popolo a kind of fairytale atmosphere.Careful walking on the cobblestones, you can take a nasty sprain there ,enchanted as you will be by your surroundings
