After visiting the cloister of the Monreale Cathedral, I came to Cefalu with high expectations.
Comparing to the other masterpieces of Norman-Arab architecture around Palermo, the cathedral of Cefalu takes advantage of the most spectacular scenery. The view of the cathedral is absolutely stunning so the visitors may expect the cloister to be the same.
Well, it's not the case.
Apparently, the time passed more aggressive in Cefalu.
About half of the columns are missing, as well as the Chiostrino. The capitals are more faded and some of them are badly deteriorated.
All in all, if you visited the cloister of Monreale Cathedral, think twice before visiting the one in Cefalu, as it might disappoint you.

In view of the price, there is actually so little to see that I wonder if it is really worth it. The place can be visited in 15 minutes.

You pay at the entrance and then walk up stairs. The sign says part of it is being renovated, but you don't really understand what that means until you get inside. They give you a guide that explains what the tops of the columns are supposed to represent. Because we paid money, we carefully went around to look at all. Half the columns are missing and the interior garden is not renovated yet. Not worth the money. I would wait to visit until the repairs are completed.

As just a few columns are original this is not the most interesting choir to visit in Sicily. We were not the only ones looking for the sculpture shown on the ticket and didn't find it...

While not as opulent or decorated as other cloisters I visited in Sicily, or elsewhere, there was a quiet and relaxing serenity to this one. It turned out to be a place to sit, rest and enjoy the meditative coolness of the stones and shade.

Sheer beaty here, spend some time looking very closely at all the different pillars as you will see incredible workmanship.

The most interesting thing in here is the set of columns and capitals around the cloister. But half of them are missing (I wish I'd read the reviews before I went in!!!). See the cloister at Monreale instead.

Lovely, peaceful cloisters beside the cathedral. Small entrance fee and the entrance is up a flight of steps. Worth a visit for tranquillity and the beautiful marble pilasters each if which has a different carving.

Just to the left of the cathedral is the entrance to the cloisters of the cathedral. They charged €3 to go in and have a wander. It's only a small courtyard surrounded by sculpted columns. The carvings were of various quality as some were more worn than others but some were really interesting subjects. I think about half the columns were not present, maybe being restored? For the price, it's not a bad way to pass a short period of time and hopefully it supports the restoration project.

The pillars are largely broken, the garden is pretty unimpressive, the only saving grace is the peace.
