    Spectacular views!
The view is worth the uphill hike. The first 20 minutes is a paved path and then the hike continually gets steeper on a rocky path. Lots of places to stop, rest and enjoy the view before getting to the top. Bring water for sure. It took us 48 minutes to reach the castle and 20 minutes to get down.

Worth a detour for the views and historic ruins on site
The hike to rocca di Cefalu is worth the price of admission: wear good shoes, especially in wet weather: many steps, rocks and the trails can be steep in places. We climbed to the castle ruins and had a picnic at the top (there's a little snack at the entrance of the parc, but we brought our own). The views are spectacular. On the way back, we stopped by the old temple of Diane and the trail which overlooks the town and provides a dominant view of the church. Well worth the detour and walk, probably more than visiting the church.

    Beautiful views
The walk to the temple is relatively easy and to the castle slightly more difficult terrain. Good footwear is essential (they check footwear at ticket area). Great views from all locations and beautiful shady wooded areas. There is a small picnic area near the temple site. All paths are wide and no need to worry about narrow paths or vertical drops. Well worth a visit

If you like hiking, you will love this - for me a highlight of my trip
As an avid hiker and geocacher, I knew I had to do this. Luckily in November it was cool and breezy so I zipped up in 35 minutes but it is steep!! I would not do this in summer on a hot day. Bring water!! and use the bathroom at the bottom as there are no facilities. Don't worry as you can climb up the first set of stairs and in about 15 minutes get a great view. if you are not a hiker, I would not go all the way to the castle as you can just do the ruins and temple which is much easier. I of course had to go up to the castle but more for a workout and to find all the geocaches. I wore sticky hiking shoes which I would recommend. I saw many people barely making it up in regular sneakers with bad grip. If you opt for this hike, wear actual grippy shoes for hiking, not flip flops. Great views from on top but again, don't feel bad as they first lookout is easier to get to and just as good. Great day - ended up spending 2 hours wandering around and geocaching but as a regular hiker, the ascent took 35 minutes, the down about 20-25. I did a few detours that added more time.

We went at opening time (8am) to avoid the heat of the day to climb the rock- this was a good idea and would recommend going early. When we got there we were told by the staff that we could not wear double strapped sandals. After a 40 minute discussion the staff were very rude, shouted at us and said get out. We were told the only way we can climb the rock was to pay another €10 each to borrow “suitable shoes”. They had neither of our sizes and so had to wear too small and too big shoes. They called them trekking sandals- essential their reversion of what we were already wearing. There were no signs explaining the rules about footwear/ any regulations online before we went. A tourist trap to make you pay more money. Overall, the staff were very unhelpful and very rude.

Once we got past the staff it was a very enjoyable walk with some stunning views.

Start early to avoid the heat and crowds. Also carry water because there are no refreshment stands or water fountains on the hill.

We had some difficulty finding the ticket office because we followed the sign pointing up the steps from Piazza Garibaldi and the way was not marked.

The path inside the park is a combination of stone stairs, stone walkways, and gravel, so wear shoes with good support. The steepest parts do have handrails.

“The Rock” has been inhabited since the 16th- 15th Centuries, BC! And every culture that has had a presence in Sicily has enhanced or altered its structures, but it has always been a stronghold. On the way up you will pass several structures that were part of the Medieval Defense Plan, and they were built on much older structures.

“The Rock” is 270 meters – about 885 feet – high. Piazza Garibaldi is about 50 feet above sea level, so you are in for a workout, but the views are worth it.

A very rewarding panoramic view from high above the town. It’s quite a hike on uneven and slippery surfaces. Take water and allow 2hrs minimum to visit.
Buying tickets is expensive and inefficient and the only thing you’ll find up there in the way of services are waste bins.

An amazing walk! Went up in July, so it was PRETTY HOT. Take lots of water and sunscreen! The views were AMAZING and the amount of history was wonderful! Super accessible from town. Go up early in the morning, take snacks, and enjoy seeing different periods of history!

An enjoyable, reasonably energetic walk up this historic site is a great way to spend a morning. We set off at 10am and were at the top by 11, despite a number of stops to take in the view, have some water and allow our arthritic knees to calm down. No part of the walk is beyond anyone who is reasonably fit. Walking poles can be hired at the start and if you are not too sprightly these would be useful. Take water of course but also treat yourself to a drink at the cafe when you finish, the bierra Messina is recommended.

Wish we had visited this place earlier in the day. It definitely needs 3-4 hours to walk around and explore. It is quite a hike to the top where there is the remains of a castle. Well worth walking to the top just for the views. This park has so much history attached to it
If you do decide to visit just remember to allow enough time to do this place justice. There is a small admission fee

rather steep way up - recommende to be undertaken in the morning ours before the sun hits the path. But the view "top of the rock" is unique and worth the endeavor. Don't take little children or peolp of advanced age with health and respiratoy problems
