We are spending three incredible days in Cefalu - absolutely love it here! La Rocca beckoned and we had a fantastic hike up the rock yesterday. It was moderately challenging for us fit Canadians in the latter half of the climb and took about 45 minutes. What a spectacular, historical sight! The views from the top are breathtaking and offer... More

From every vantage point you stare at La Rocca and wonder if you can make it to the top. Yes you can! On the way up you will see an ancient church and the temple of Diana. On the summit is the old fortifications with a spectacular view. Bring cash since there is a small entrance fee.

Very nicely done on the lower part, with nice steps and handrail in the shade of trees, gets more rugged after about a quarter of the way up. Where I finished but was enjoyable the part I did. Entrance fee was 2 Euros for over 60s

Nice hike with view over Cefalú. On the way there are historic ruins and information about them. Costs 4 euro and it takes about 2 hours to walk up and down with breaks.

climbed up this in 35 degrees took about 2 hours to complete, but worth it for the views, felt the charge to go needed to be used to maintain it a bit better

Don't be deceived by the civilised looking steps at the start - later on the climb is much more challenging! If you want to go right up to the ruined castle prepare for a scramble up a poorly defined path with a lot of loose stones. Take plenty water and choose a cooler day. It is all worth it for... More

A series of fortifications on the top of the rock - nice views and some interesting remains of defenses for history buffs.

The entrance to the path indeed is somewhat hard to find. It's located at Vicolo Saraceni, an alley at Corso Ruggero. At the entrance is a ticket booth, where you have to buy a €4 ticket. First you climb the steps. When you encounter a crossing, go left. That way you will first visit some ruïns. You will also have... More
