Exhausting and not for the weak hearted or poorly shod but a challenge well rewarded by the views.

Having hike to the top twice at different times of the year, I say go early in the AM to stay cool. It's not a hard hike if you wear the right shoes and the views are well worth the effort.

We made our bid for the top in the midday heat, which may not have been the wisest of choices as there's next to no shade. Having reached he grand old age of 65 we benefitted from a 50% senior citizen discount (a rarity). The...More

We planned on heading up for sunrise but (thankfully!) the rock didn't open until 8am. I recommend going as early as possible in the summer, because it gets hot quite quickly! I loved the walk, it was truly beautiful and we had a great time...More

The gates open from 08:00am I am unsure what time they shut. It is not very well signed as to where to go you walk up some random steps near piazza Gabriella which you wouldn’t think go anywhere. I would strongly recommend especially coming into...More

The city of Cefalu is known for it’s beautiful scenery and mountainous region. La Rocca is the closest mountain right next to the city center. The start of the hike is rather hard to find and unclear. The cost is 4 Euros per person and...More

Above Cefalù this hike is moderately long, two hours or less but with such great views. Wear good shoes, go early in the day to avoid noon heat, bring plenty of water. Recommended.

While a very arduous vertical climb to the summit, the effort (take your time!) was so very well worth it for the spectacular panoramic views and the ruins - Temple of Diana, Castle, fortifications, etc. - at the top. Some areas on the trail are...More

Definitely worth the climb. The first section, to the temple, is on better surfaces and the latter part to the castle is on looser rocky paths. Not suitable for anyone with mobility problems but you don’t need to be particularly fit either. It’s a 30...More

For a mere €2 per person, this is a wonderful experience! It does take 2 hours to cover it all (35 minutes climb to the castello), but the view from the top is well worth the sweat and effort. I found going down more difficult,...More

As best I recall, there are small signs up from Piazza Garibaldi, or a block north at Via Carbonari. My pics show a staired road up to a pleasant side street which leads to the hike entrance. Very easy, short little up from... More
